Job Description

The Scrum Master acts as a servant leader and coach for their team(s) by facilitating clear communication to management and to the team, and by helping to educate the team in various agility practices and frameworks, ensuring that the processes agreed to by the team are being followed. This role drives delivery outcomes at sprint and increment levels, ensuring Agile practices translate into tangible business value for Data Intelligence & Innovation teams. The Scrum Master fosters a culture of ownership, proactiveness, and accountability, moving beyond facilitation to measurable impact, and leverages prior exposure as a Tech Business Analyst or Product Owner to bridge business and technical perspectives effectively.
Good To Have:
  • Healthcare IT or healthcare data domain experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with modern data/engineering practices (CI/CD, automated testing, data quality frameworks) is a plus.
Must Have:
  • Guide Agile adoption for data/analytics delivery; hold teams accountable to commitments and ensure backlogs are READY.
  • Identify and resolve delivery risks, impediments, and dependencies early to maintain flow and improve performance.
  • Ensure sprint ceremonies, requirement workshops, stakeholder reviews and allied practices are outcome-driven, predictable, and aligned to product increment goals.
  • Coach teams toward improved velocity, predictability, and quality, embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Analysts, and Engineers to refine backlogs and translate requirements into increments.
  • Bridge communication gaps between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure shared understanding.
  • Actively remove obstacles and enable smooth execution of data/BI product delivery.
  • Provide transparent progress reporting and delivery metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Represent the team in cross-team forums, ensuring alignment and effective stakeholder management.
  • Bachelor’s degree or other four-year degree with significant IS experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead supporting technical teams.
  • Proven track record of enabling data platform, BI, analytics teams to deliver high-value increments on time.
  • Experience as Tech Business Analyst or Product Owner roles alongside Scrum Master responsibilities.
  • Proven experience as a Tech Business Analyst and/or Product Owner, with strong skills in requirements elicitation, backlog definition, and business-to-technical translation.
  • Hands-on expertise writing user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, and data requirements for data/BI products.
  • Ability to collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, and business stakeholders to capture, refine, and prioritize requirements.
  • Strong facilitation of requirement workshops, backlog refinement sessions & stakeholder reviews, ensuring clarity and adoption.
  • Proven ability to facilitate sprint ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) with a focus on delivery outcomes.
  • Track record of driving accountability at sprint and increment level, holding teams to commitments and improving predictability.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, XP) and ability to tailor them to analytics product delivery.
  • Experience with Jira (or equivalent) for managing sprints, commitments, and metrics.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Agile Leadership & Delivery Focus

  • Guide Agile adoption for data/analytics delivery; hold teams accountable to commitments and ensure backlogs are READY.
  • Identify and resolve delivery risks, impediments, and dependencies early to maintain flow and improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity.
  • Ensure sprint ceremonies, requirement workshops, stakeholder reviews and allied practices are outcome-driven, predictable, and aligned to product increment goals.

  • Partner with Product Owners, Analysts, and Engineers to refine backlogs and translate requirements into increments. Participate & contribute in forums where these partners work on product increments.

Problem Solving and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Actively remove obstacles and enable smooth execution of data/BI product delivery.
  • Provide transparent progress reporting and delivery metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Representing the team in cross-team forums, ensuring alignment and effective stakeholder management.
  • Conducting gap analyses (current vs target state) and contribute to roadmaps/enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or other four-year degree with significant IS experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead supporting technical teams.
  • Proven track record of enabling data platform, BI, analytics teams to deliver high-value increments on time.
  • Experience as Tech Business Analyst or Product Owner roles alongside Scrum Master responsibilities; ability to navigate requirements, backlog definition, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Healthcare IT or healthcare data domain experience preferred.

Business Analysis & Product Owner Experience

  • Proven experience as a Tech Business Analyst and/or Product Owner, with strong skills in requirements elicitation, backlog definition, and business-to-technical translation.
  • Hands-on expertise writing user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, and data requirements for data/BI products.
  • Ability to collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, and business stakeholders to capture, refine, and prioritize requirements across provider, payer, and healthcare domains.
  • Demonstrated success in partnering with data platform, BI, and analytics teams to shape deliverables aligned with business value.
  • Strong facilitation of requirement workshops, backlog refinement sessions & stakeholder reviews, ensuring clarity and adoption.
  • Comfortable conducting gap analyses (current vs target state) and contributing to roadmaps/enhancements for data and analytics solutions.

Scrum Master & Agile Delivery Expertise

  • Proven ability to facilitate sprint ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) with a focus on delivery outcomes, not just process.
  • Track record of driving accountability at sprint and increment level, holding teams to commitments and improving predictability.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, XP) and ability to tailor them to analytics product delivery.
