Job Description

The Governance & Risk Oversight (GRO) team at eBay’s Global Customer Experience (GCX) focuses on maintaining operational integrity and improving trust. As a Senior Advisor - Risk Governance, you will identify and mitigate high-risk activities using data-driven insights. This role involves collaborating with Operations and the Customer Service Management Team (CSMT) to ensure robust risk management practices, aligning with eBay’s values and regulatory requirements. You will influence strategic decisions and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Must have:
  • Detect and monitor fraud and other high-risk activities, escalating cases to the Incident Investigation team.
  • Identify potential risks within operational processes and provide actionable recommendations to enhance controls.
  • Analyze the efficiency of existing controls and implement recommendations to improve fraud detection capabilities.
  • Assist in developing the GCX IT Audit and Control testing program to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Work closely with Operations and CSMT to provide IT-related risk insights, fostering consensus on vital mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and present succinct, data-driven analyses to leadership and business partners, aiding in informed decision-making.
  • Dedicated to working the Hybrid model with 3 days in office at either our Austin Texas or our Salt Lake City Utah office.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ years of controls, compliance, and/or risk operations experience, preferably within the eCommerce or financial services industry.
  • Confident with identifying systems and applications risks and controls.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Proficient at navigating through ambiguity along with balancing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced changing environment.
Good to have:
  • Comfortable running SQL queries
  • Data visualization and proficiency with visualization software (Tableau, BIX / MicroStrategy, Google Sheets, etc.)
  • Experience identifying, assessing, and documenting risk
  • Experience designing, implementing, and testing controls
  • Experience assessing, monitoring, and remediating deficient controls
  • Experience with investigations and reporting findings

About the team and the role

The Governance & Risk Oversight (GRO) team is a vital part of eBay’s Global Customer Experience (GCX) Team, where we focus on maintaining the integrity of operations and improving trust within our community. As a Senior Advisor - Risk Governance, you will play a key role in identifying and mitigating high-risk activities using data-driven insights. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including Operations and the Customer Service Management Team (CSMT), to ensure robust risk management practices that align with eBay’s values and regulatory requirements. This position offers opportunities to influence strategic decisions and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

What you will accomplish

  • Detect and Monitor Risks: Conduct detailed monitoring of fraud and other high-risk activities, escalating cases to the Incident Investigation team for further examination.
  • Systems Risk Advisory: Identify potential risks within operational processes and provide clear, actionable recommendations to enhance controls.

What you will bring

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$70,000 - $120,700

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
