Job Summary

As a Senior Audio Designer at KRAFTON Montreal, you will be a main driving force in creating inspiring and original audio content, ensuring sound-to-picture accuracy. You will collaborate closely with the Audio Director, Audio Team, Game Designers, Developers, and Artists to deliver an immersive audio experience that enhances the gameplay and storytelling of the new IP, The Bird that Drinks Tears, based on Korean novels.

Must Have

  • Define key elements of the overall audio vision for the game
  • Participate in refining production specifications and timeline estimates for audio content
  • Advocate and facilitate audio contribution within gameplay mechanics and systems
  • Share expertise and creative instinct, providing mentoring on sound design methodologies
  • Elevate colleagues' work through artistic expression and inspiring feedback
  • Initiate and lead sound aesthetics research and tech development initiatives
  • Participate in defining technical guidelines for audio content creation
  • Drive regular audio content and system pre-mixing sessions
  • Ensure strict source-data maintenance and project’s data structure optimization
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience on multiple released AAA titles in a senior Sound Design role
  • High-level sound design skills & creative expression
  • Extensive knowledge of Wwise audio authoring tool workflow & practices
  • Strong understanding & application experiences in UE’S node-based BluePrint system
  • Experience in location/field recording, session & assets management & gear specification
  • Strong experience in multiple DAWs (ProTools, Nuendo, …), with a specific comfort/interest in Reaper
  • Content Sound Design experience in multi-channel formats (4.0, ambisonics, 5.1)
  • Experience in audio data structures for static & dynamic mix systems
  • Experience in both linear & interactive content mixing practices

Job Description:

As an Senior Audio Designer, you will be one of the main driving force in creating inspiring & original audio content, while maintaining a strong sense of sound-to-picture accuracy. You will work closely with the Audio Director & the Audio Team, Game Designers, Developers, and Artists to deliver a seamless audio experience that complements gameplay and storytelling in our exciting new IP, The Bird that Drinks Tears, based on the Korean novels.

Responsibilities:

  • In close collaboration with the Audio Director & the Audio Team, you will define the key elements of the overall audio vision of the game covering realistic components (ambiences & active environments), pure fictional & abstract content (skills, characters/creatures, VFX sound expressions, etc…) & more, all in relation with the game’s unique fantasy & narrative.
  • Participate in the refinement of the Production specifications & timeline estimates supporting all audio-related content.
  • In collaboration with all other teams & departments, you will advocate & facilitate audio contribution within gameplay mechanics, systems & gameplay realization intentions.
  • In direct relation with the Audio Team, you will be sharing your expertise & creative instinct, providing mentoring & guidance on pure sound design methodologies & techniques for both interactive & linear content.
  • As a Senior team member, you will jointly participate in elevating every other colleague’s work through your sharp artistic expression & inspiring feedback.
  • You will Initiate & lead sound aesthetics research & tech development initiatives.
  • Participate in the definition of technical guidelines for audio content creation, pre-mixing/mastering & session templates vs target in-game audio formats & mechanics.
  • You will drive regular audio content & system pre-mixing sessions.
  • With the Audio Team, you will ensure strict source-data maintenance & project’s data structure optimisation.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience over multiple released AAA titles in a senior Sound Design role.
  • High-level sound design skills & creative expression. Demonstrable artistic preferences & signature in the audio creation approach.
  • Strong audio realization expertise in linear medium.
  • Extensive knowledge of Wwise audio authoring tool workflow & practices, especially for structures creation, optimization & maintenance.
  • Strong understanding & application experiences in UE’S node-based BluePrint system.
  • Experience in location/field recording, session & assets management & gear specification (formats, microphones, …).
  • Strong experience in multiple DAWs (ProTools, Nuendo, …), with a specific confort/interest in Reaper.
  • Content Sound Design experience in multi-channel formats (4.0, ambisonics, 5.1).
  • Experience in audio data structures for static & dynamic mix systems.
  • Experience in both linear & interactive content mixing practices.
