Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Audio Director, the Technical Sound Designer will provide technical solutions for integrating and implementing audio systems for Beyond Good & Evil 2. This involves working with middleware (Wwise) and proprietary engines, developing solutions aligned with technical direction, and proposing improvements for audio integration across departments. The role also includes responsibilities of a Sound Designer, such as creating, proposing, and integrating audio assets for all game components. Additionally, the designer will act as an audio technical lead, ensuring consistency, performance, and quality of audio systems, writing documentation, and optimizing resource usage.
Must Have
- Provide technical solutions for integrating and implementing audio systems.
- Work in Wwise middleware and proprietary engine using scripting or graph system.
- Develop solutions aligned with Audio Technical Direction constraints and engine specificities.
- Propose audio systems to improve integration efficiency across departments (animation, UI).
- Create, propose, and integrate audio assets and designs (sound, music, voice, animation, UI, weapons, vehicles).
- Exercise technical authority over project audio and ensure proper application of technical standards.

- Act as a technical advisor and main point of contact with other Technical Directors.

What You’ll Do
Missions
Under the supervision of the Audio Director at the Montpellier studio, you will provide technical solutions for integrating and implementing audio systems to ensure that the audio assets created by the team work as intended, in line with the Audio Director’s vision.
- You will work in the middleware (Wwise) and in the proprietary engine through scripting or the editor’s graph system.
- You’ll develop solutions that align with the Audio Technical Direction’s constraints and the specificities of the audio engine.
- You’ll propose audio systems to the Audio Director that improve the efficiency of audio integration across other departments (animation, UI, etc.).
- You’ll also take on all the responsibilities of a Sound Designer, including:
- Creating audio assets
- Proposing audio designs
- Integrating audio designs
This may involve every aspect of audio: sound, music, voice, and all components of a game animation, UI, weapons, vehicles, and more.
You will also be able to fully assume the role of audio technical lead within the project, ensuring the consistency, performance, and quality of all audio systems:
- Exercise technical authority over the project's audio and ensure the proper application of technical standards.
- Write, maintain, and distribute audio technical documentation.
- Monitor and validate audio guidelines, ensuring their compliance and effective integration into the production pipeline.
- Act as a technical advisor and main point of contact with other Technical Directors on the project.
- Actively contribute to CPU and memory load management, as well as optimizing resource usage on the various consoles.
Your Future Work Environment
The audio team supports all studio projects (marketing, recordings, multi-projects) by combining artistic creativity with technical expertise. The team consists of about 10 people and an Audio Director.
You’ll become the go-to person for all technical aspects of the BGE2 project, working at the heart of a passionate team and in full collaboration with the project’s audio programmers.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Know the principles of audio physics and digital audio
- Proficiency in the use of DAW (REAPER, ProTools), use of processors (spectral, time and dynamics).
- Knowledge on recording techniques for voices, sound effects, foley, ambiences.
- Proficiency in mixing and mastering assets following loudness standards.
- Use of virtual instruments for sound design and specific plugins for special effects.
- Advanced knowledge of WWISE middleware, object based, ducking, bus structure, HDR, priorities...
- Knowledge of audio resources management in-game (memory, voices, CPU usage, etc.).
- Knowledge of visual scripting and engine functionalities.
- At least on Scripting language (python, C#,) knowledge is needed: to make scripts for reaper, wwise, ...
- Knowledge of audio technical direction, including a solid understanding of performance constraints, technical pipelines, and multiplatform environments
