Job Description

As a Senior Character Artist, you will be responsible for building organic and inorganic character geometry for AAA games. You will collaborate closely with the Art Director and Character Lead to ensure high-quality character assets, manage workflows, and meet milestones. You are expected to contribute to improving character creation workflows and techniques in tandem with the technical art team.

Must Have:
  • Create believable characters with life and personality.
  • Sculpt complex creature types from bipeds to quadrupeds.
  • Create high and low polygon count models and textures.
  • Craft character items and hard surface elements.
  • Work with character models created by outsourcing studios.
  • Present work to leadership and adapt based on feedback.
  • Collaborate with the technical animation team.
  • Actively participate in workflow improvement and peer learning.
  • 5+ years of experience in video game development.
  • Worked on a published AAA title.
  • Portfolio/website demonstrating artistic skills.
  • Ability to adapt and innovate new styles and techniques.
  • Strong organic modelling skills.
  • Strong hard surface modelling skills.
  • Very good knowledge of Maya, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, Substance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with a game engine.

Your New Role…In this role you will be responsible to build the geometry of organic and inorganic characters in the game. You will be working closely with the Art Director and Character lead to ensure all character assets are of the highest quality. Day-to-day you will be collaborating with other artists in the team, the Producer, and your lead to manage the workflows and meet the milestones while maintaining a reasonable workload. We hope you are interested in improving our current workflows and techniques for character creation and help us elevate the quality across the team in tandem with our technical art team.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Create believable characters that are full of life and personality.
  • Sculpt complex creature types from bipeds to quadrupeds and beyond.
  • Create high and low polygon count models as well as textures.
  • Craft character items and hard surface elements.
  • Work with character models created by outsourcing studios.
  • Regularly present your work to leadership and swiftly adapt based on feedback.
  • Collaborate with the technical animation team to maintain the existing character assets.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of workflows, and in supporting the learning of less experienced peers.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • 5+ years of experience in video game development and having worked on a published AAA title.
  • A portfolio/website demonstrating your artistic skills.
  • Ability to adapt and to innovate

new styles and techniques.

  • Strong organic modelling skills (human faces, clothing, believable creatures).
  • Strong hard surface modelling skills (armour, weapons)
  • Very good knowledge of major 3D software packages (Maya, ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, Substance)
  • Excellent communication skills

and willingness to participate to the team’s well-being and improvement.

  • Must have experience with a game engine; experience with Unreal Engine, is desired asset.
