Job Summary
Calix provides cloud, software platforms, systems, and services for communications service providers. A Senior Cloud Security Engineer will specialize in designing secure cloud infrastructure and applications, implementing security requirements to comply with standards like ISO 27001, CIS Controls, SOC2, and NIST Framework, and ensuring overall compliance and risk mitigation across complex cloud environments. This role involves performing security reviews, building threat models, and contributing to GRC efforts.
Must Have
- Perform cloud security reviews and implement security controls.
- Contribute to periodic security assessments and design solutions for risk mitigation.
- Develop processes for secure cloud configuration and documentation.
- Build threat models using standard frameworks.
- Review vulnerabilities, assess threats, and provide resolutions.
- Contribute to GRC efforts and risk assessments.
- Partner with stakeholders to address security risks.
- Review third-party vendor solutions for security gaps.
- 5-10 years in cybersecurity with expertise in cloud, IoT, and mobile application security.
- Experience securing AWS, GCP, Azure environments with native tools and multi-cloud architectures.
- Understanding of cloud security, data security, GKE container security, and security protocols (TLS, X.509, PKI, SSO).
- Knowledge of designing and implementing security best practices and cloud security controls.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001, CIS Controls, SOC2, NIST Framework.
- Familiarity with CI/CD security best practices and DevSecOps.
- Experience with GCP services for data pipeline security (BigQuery, DataFlow, DataStream, Kafka).
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Cloud Security Engineer should have experience specializing in designing secure cloud infrastructure and applications. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing cloud security requirements to comply with standards, policies and procedures, to ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 27001, ClS Controls, SOC2, NIST Framework.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform cloud security reviews to ensure alignment with security requirements, and implement security controls to adhere to security standards and security policies across complex environments.
- Contribute to periodic security assessment on cloud infrastructure, identify potential gaps, and design and deploy solutions to mitigate risks.
- Develop processes to maintain secure cloud configuration and procedure documents along with technical guides and documentation for security best practices.
- Build threat models to identify potential threats using standard frameworks.
- Review critical vulnerabilities, access security threats and risks, and provide resolutions to mitigate the risks.
- Contribute to governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) efforts, third-party risks assessments, and any internal risk assessments.
- Partner with individual contributors, technical leads, managers, leadership to address security risks and meet business objectives.
- Review third-party vendor solutions to address security gaps, risks.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in cybersecurity with expertise in designing and implementing security solutions across cloud, IoT and mobile applications.
- Experience in securing cloud environments across AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, with knowledge of native security tools and multi-cloud architectures.
- Understanding of cloud security, data security, GKE container security, security protocols and standards like TLS, X.509, S/MIME, PKI, IdP, SSO, network security, REST API security.
- Knowledge of designing and implementing security best practices, and cloud security controls as part of architecture design.
- Familiarity with cloud security compliance industry standards such as ISO 27001, ClS Controls, SOC2, NIST Framework.
- Familiarity with CI/CD security best practices and DevSecOps methodologies.
- Experience in GCP services to secure data pipeline (BigQuery, DataFlow, DataStream, Kafka)
- BS/MS degree in computer science engineering, information security, or cryptography.
- Must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Ability to work in a fast paced and highly collaborative environment.
The base pay range for this position varies based on the geographic location. More information about the pay range specific to candidate location and other factors will be shared during the recruitment process. Individual pay is determined based on location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
San Francisco Bay Area:
133,400 - 226,600 USD Annual
All Other US Locations:
116,000 - 197,000 USD Annual
