About the design team

At PhonePe, Design operates at the eye of the storm, collaborating with business, engineering, content, legal, and other teams to build systems that move fast and think long. We evolve our products through experimentation, shared learnings, and a high-trust culture of autonomy and feedback. 

The team is made up of specialists in product design, UX writing, motion and illustration, and visual design. Each craft brings its own depth, but we design with shared context and common goals, and our work is all the better for it. 

Our work spans both the mature PhonePe product and our newer zero-to-one initiatives. Indus Appstore pushes us to imagine what a truly Indian app discovery experience should feel like. Share.Market asks us to make investing approachable for first-time users without compromising the depth expected by seasoned traders. Pincode challenges us to rethink hyperlocal commerce by designing for real-world frictions: kirana culture, fulfillment complexity, and trust-building.

What you'll do

• Craft concise, user-friendly, and compelling copy for our product interfaces
• Proactively identify and improve product language through testing and validation
• Harmonise product and marketing language, balancing clarity with persuasiveness
• Partner with product designers, PMs, developers, and business leadership to ensure consistent, clear and regulation-friendly messaging across PhonePe's products
• Create and maintain internal documentation for content guidelines and best practices
• Define and champion our product's distinctive voice and tone guidelines
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive product terminology guide to ensure consistent usage throughout the product
• Collaborate with design, product, business and localisation teams to align product language with user needs and capabilities
• Apply systems thinking to content, including creating scalable guidelines, auditing experiences, and contributing to information architecture

What you’ll need

• 4-5 years of full-time and hands-on experience in copy or UX writing for digital products or services
• A strong portfolio of product-centred writing samples and style guidelines
• A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Writing, Product Design, English, Marketing or equivalent practical experience
• Demonstrated experience in writing clear, compelling, and understandable copy that balances style guides, user needs and business objectives
• Experience working with Figma or other leading design tools
• Comfort in working in cross-functional, agile teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and resolve conflicts diplomatically
• Comfort in leading projects with minimal direction and handling a large degree of ambiguity
• A strong passion for getting things done in a consistent manner across products and teams
