Job Description
Role Overview
The Senior Economy Designer shapes the systems that drive long-term player motivation and engagement. You will define how players progress, earn, customize, and invest in the game, owning the full player lifecycle—from onboarding to endgame and live-service retention.
You ensure that every reward, currency, and progression beat feels meaningful, fair, and aligned with both creative and business goals. You’re a systems thinker who understands player psychology, can balance strategic vision with hands-on tuning, and thrives at the intersection of design, analytics, production, and live operations.
You collaborate naturally—bringing clarity, structure, and alignment to complex design discussions.
What you´ll be doing
- Own the metagame vision - define how players grow, unlock, and evolve through systems that reward mastery and sustain engagement.
- Design and balance the in-game economy, covering currency generation, sinks, crafting, vendor systems, and reward pacing.
- Collaborate on monetization and MTX design, ensuring offers and premium content integrate ethically and coherently with progression systems.
- Define player customization systems, including cosmetics, personalization options, and long-term collection goals that reinforce identity and expression.
- Shape the endgame experience, designing goals, loops, and reward structures that encourage replayability and community engagement.
- Partner with analytics and telemetry teams to define KPIs, interpret behavioral data, and iterate systems for improved balance and retention.
- Drive cross-disciplinary collaboration, aligning progression and economy design with narrative, art, UX, and production roadmaps.
- Mentor and support other designers in systems thinking, economy design, and sustainable player engagement strategies.
- Have a proactive nature where collaboration and communication with all departments of game development come naturally.
What we´re looking for
- 5+ years of experience in game development with a focus on progression, systems, or metagame design.
- Worked at least one one live or service-based title with responsibility for progression or economy systems.
- Deep understanding of player motivation, retention loops, and behavioral design principles.
- Strong analytical mindset - able to interpret data, model economies, and balance reward pacing.
- Experience integrating monetization in a way that enhances rather than detracts from the player experience.
- Excellent cross-team communicator with proven ability to drive initiatives across disciplines.
- Familiarity with telemetry tools and live balancing workflows is a plus.
What more do we offer? We're glad you asked!
- Flexible working hours, with core hours of 09:30-15:30 CET, to allow you to structure your day in a way that best suits you;
- 30 paid vacation days per year, plus an extra 5 paid days off, plus 1 paid moving day - all on top of public holidays, of course!
- A generous occupational pension via Nordnet, typically ~50% above the collective agreement standard;
- Private healthcare, life, and accident insurance;
- A wellness allowance of 5000 SEK per year towards your wellness; whether that's a gym membership, tennis lessons, yoga classes, or whatever else you do for you!
- Bike leasing through Lease a Bike, with the cost deduced tax free from your gross salary;
- In office massage sessions monthly, free for all employees;
- A variety of fun events in office, from regular breakfasts and fika sessions, to our weekly DnD club;
- And let's not forget our new office itself - in the centre of Stockholm near a variety of excellent restaurants, gyms, and bars for those Friday after-works!
