Senior Java Web Software Developer (Orlando Area)
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team and play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-scale web applications. You’ll work on high-traffic systems using Java and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions. This role involves working closely with business analysts and stakeholders to understand business drivers and data needs, and to scope out scalable solutions that empower users with the right information for planning, analysis, and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications using Java.
- Build responsive user interfaces with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as Sencha JS.
- Design, consume, and optimize RESTful APIs with a focus on security and performance.
- Collaborate with product owners, QA engineers, and DevOps to deliver high-quality, end-to-end solutions.
- Conduct and participate in code reviews to promote best practices and clean, maintainable code.
- Assist in defining project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and time estimates for development tasks.
- Create and maintain technical documentation covering system components and implementation strategies.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of professional software development experience.
- 3+ years of enterprise Java web development in high-volume environments.
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with Sencha JS or similar rich UI frameworks.
- Solid understanding of RESTful web services and API design.
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle preferred, MS SQL and Snowflake a plus).
- Experience with version control systems (Git/Bitbucket).
- Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams.
Preferred:
- Experience with Java LTS versions (Java 17+) and migration from Java 8.
- Strong knowledge of Spring Boot for building backend services.
- Experience in healthcare services or insurance technology.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) and build tools (Maven, Gradle).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency with additional front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Thymeleaf).
- Strong background in unit testing and quality-focused coding practices.

Physical Demands
