As a Senior Linux System Administrator (m/f/d), you will support our teams and the development of our internal IT systems and services.
Tasks
Your tasks
- Optimization, expansion, monitoring, updating, and maintenance of our internal IT systems and services, including server and cloud infrastructure
- Planning and implementation of service setups with Ansible. This includes conceiving new services as well as revising existing ones, through independent analysis of the current state and implementation up to operation
- Contact person for the provisioning, installation, and troubleshooting of server and cloud services as well as other internal services for all teams (mail server, file server, Kubernetes, telephone system, JIRA, Confluence, OTRS etc.)
- Creation of scripts (Python, Bash) for the optimization, automation, and expansion of services, applications, and processes
- Administration of desktop operating systems (Linux, Windows, and macOS) and program installations via software deployment systems (Jamf, ninjaOne), as well as 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-level helpdesk support for our team members
- Analyze and address security risks (IT security)
Qualification
What you absolutely must bring
- Completed IT or computer science degree or comparable vocational training (e.g., IT specialist for system integration)
- More than five years of professional experience as a System Administrator (m/f/d)* with Linux operating systems (preferably Red Hat/CentOS/Rocky and Debian/Ubuntu)
- Extensive knowledge in automation and orchestration with configuration management tools (preferably Ansible) and experience with monitoring tools (Checkmk, Nagios/Icinga, ELK-Stack, etc.)
- Profound scripting experience with Python and Bash
- Experience in operating 24/7 production environments as well as in developing and implementing strategies for highly available internal services
- Fluent German language skills as well as good knowledge of the English language
Ideally, you also bring
- Very good understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., XEN, KVM, HyperV) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes or similar)
- Knowledge in dealing with cloud technologies (like AWS, GCP etc.)
- Experience with Directory Services (Entra, AD/LDAP) as well as RDBMS (PostgreSQL and/or MySQL) and Web and Proxy servers (Apache, nginx or HAProxy)
- Proficient in network technologies (DHCP, DNS, IPsec etc.) as well as configuration of network hardware (VLAN, Routing etc.)
- Experience with Software-Deployment systems such as Jamf or ninjaOne
