Job Description

This role leads all aspects of financial control for LSEG DSM legal entities including the London Stock Exchange PLC and other entities. Responsibilities include managing the financial control team, overseeing the monthly close process, reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing financial statements. The role also involves leading the relationship with external auditors, preparing technical accounting entries, and building in-depth knowledge of finance systems. The successful candidate will have exposure to a wide range of activities, including management accounts reports, legal entity budgets, and financial regulatory reporting.
Must have:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar)
  • Strong people and stakeholder management track record

  • Technical accounting knowledge

ROLE SUMMARY:

The LSEG Digital and Securities Markets division is home to several outstanding capital formation and execution venues. Reporting to the Head of Finance for DSM, this role will lead all aspects of financial control for LSEG DSM legal entities including the London Stock Exchange PLC, Turquoise Group and newly formed Digital Markets Infrastructure entities.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Manage and mentor the financial control team members in the Centre of Excellence (“CoE”) and a resource based in London.
  • Run the monthly period close process and month end timetables.
  • Review journal entries, carefully checking support and allocations.
  • Perform and oversee the month end analytical review procedures to gain comfort over the legal entity balance sheets and income statements before period close.
  • Review of balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline. Drive improvement and ensure accounts are reconciled in a timely manner and appropriately substantiated.
  • Review, approve and promote monthly submissions to the Group Finance team using the Hyperion Financial Management system.
  • Lead the relationship with the external auditors from engagement to opinion. Chair weekly meetings with the audit team and coordinate audit documents including engagement and representation letters.
  • Review, oversee or perform technical accounting entries, support and write accounting memorandums in accordance with IFRS.
  • Manage and review the preparation of the annual financial statements by CoE resources.
  • Prepare or assess and review going concern and impairment assessments.
  • Prepare or review legal entity board materials and monthly financial regulatory submissions (e.g.: Financial Resources Requirements).
  • Build an in-depth knowledge of the chart of accounts, ledger string coding, finance systems such as Essbase, HFM and Oracle Fusion. Work towards becoming a subject matter authority for the wider Finance team.
  • Support the Beacon project team ensuring all deliverables related to the new ERP system are provided for DSM

WHAT YOU’LL GET IN RETURN:

  • In addition to the core legal entity financial control activities, the team prepare monthly management accounts reports, legal entity budgets, financial regulatory stress scenario modelling, and we participate heavily in financial regulatory reporting. The successful candidate will therefore have exposure to develop and grow in a wide range of activities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar) with extensive years PQE.
  • Strong people and stakeholder management track record.
  • Extensive experience in legal entity, divisional or business unit financial control.
  • Tenacious. Ability to identify, chase down issues and follow through to conclusion.
  • Technical accounting, particularly UK GAAP and IFRS.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Background in financial services or capital markets.
  • Experience with Blackline, Oracle, Hyperion and Essbase Systems is desirable.
  • Financial process improvement.
