Who are we hiring?
Sphere Studios is seeking a Senior (Motion) Designer with strong creative instincts, technical skill, and a drive to grow. This role sits at the intersection of motion design, concept art, and graphic design — ideal for a designer who has mastered the fundamentals and is ready to push into more complex, large-scale, and experimental work.
As an integral member of the creative, experience, and design team, the Senior Designer will help bring to life the next generation of visual storytelling for Sphere’s groundbreaking immersive platform. You’ll collaborate closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, and Writers to concept, design, and animate visual content that spans brand, experiential, and marketing applications.
The ideal candidate is ambitious, resilient, and adaptable — someone who thrives on creative challenges, takes direction well, and is eager to explore new mediums. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a designer who’s confidently mid-senior: self-sufficient, thoughtful, and excited to keep leveling up.
What will you do?
- Partner with Creative Directors and Art Directors to design and execute original animated content across a range of visual styles and formats.
- Develop and deliver storyboards, animatics, and final motion design assets that bring ideas vividly to life.
- Translate static designs into dynamic motion for Sphere’s unique, large-scale, and spherical canvas.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore visual concepts that merge motion, design, and storytelling.
- Work fluidly across disciplines — focusing on motion design, but stepping into concept art and graphic design as project needs evolve.
- Take and apply feedback with a professional, open mindset; pivot quickly while maintaining creative integrity and attention to detail.
- Maintain high standards of design excellence, brand consistency, and craft across all deliverables.
What do you need to succeed?
- 7+ years of experience in a fast-paced creative or motion design studio.
- Strong grasp of design fundamentals — composition, typography, color, balance, and visual hierarchy.
- Advanced proficiency in After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere; familiarity with Cinema4D, Blender, Unreal, or Maya preferred.
- Experience developing storyboards, animatics, and pre-vis for motion content.
- Solid understanding of storytelling, pacing, and visual rhythm — with the ability to merge design and motion for maximum emotional and aesthetic impact.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to take direction, contribute ideas, and support the creative vision of senior leadership.
- Highly organized and able to manage time effectively across multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Knowledge of current visual trends, animation techniques, and emerging creative technologies.
- Comfortable working in varying degrees of fidelity — from rapid prototyping to polished production.
- Resilient under pressure and energized by solving creative challenges in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience working with global or high-profile brands is a plus.
Special Requirements
- Requires occasional travel and non-conventional work hours.
