Job Description

As a Senior/Principal Gameplay Animator at Flying Wild Hog, you'll be responsible for creating high-quality 3D animations for characters, creatures, and props using Unreal Engine 5. This involves hand-keying animations, utilizing motion capture data, and collaborating closely with programmers and designers to implement engaging gameplay mechanics. You'll ensure consistent animation style, meet deadlines, and contribute to the overall success of the project. Experience with Maya, motion capture data, and a strong understanding of animation principles are crucial. The role demands excellent communication and teamwork skills. You'll play a key part in bringing their exciting game worlds to life.
Must have:
  • 5+ years gameplay animation experience
  • Proficiency in Maya (or similar 3D package)
  • Human figure animation expertise
  • Motion capture data experience
  • Collaboration with designers and programmers
  • Understanding of keyframe animation principles
  • Game design principle understanding
Good to have:
  • MotionBuilder knowledge

YOUR ROLE

Flying Wild Hog, a leading game development studio, is looking for a passionate animator with an eye for character and creature motion to join our team and help bring our games to life in Unreal Engine 5.

 

YOUR DAILY TASK

  • Creating 3D animations for humans, animals, monsters, and props
  • Delivering high-quality hand-keyed and mocap derived animations
  • Communicating with the Gameplay Animation Lead to ensure a consistent style
  • Working closely with programmers and designers to create gameplay mechanics
  • Collaborating with production to ensure a high-quality project that meets our deadlines

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years of documented experience as a gameplay animator
  • Very good knowledge of any 3D package (Maya preferably)

  • Skill in animating the human figure to create realistic animations

  • Experience working with motion capture data

  • Good communication skills and experience collaborating closely with designers and programmers

  • Good understanding of keyframe animation’s principles and the ability to apply this knowledge to animation creation

  • Good understanding of game design principles and how to create animations that support the gameplay

  • Comfortable working in a game engine editor (Unreal Engine knowledge is a plus)

  • Proficiency in English

 

NICE TO HAVE

  • Good knowledge of MotionBuilder
  • Experience in animating realistic creatures
  • Experience working on a third-person-perspective action game
