Job Summary

Fool's Theory is seeking a Technical Character Animator (Mid/Senior) to join their team in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, with a fully remote option. This role involves collaborating with Gameplay Programmers on player and AI animations, retargeting assets in Unreal Engine, and refining the Motion Matching animation system. It's an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new project from its early stages, shaping its direction and impact.

Must Have

  • Collaborate closely with the Gameplay Programmer to create and iterate on player and AI animations.
  • Retarget existing animation assets in Unreal Engine.
  • Refine and polish the Motion Matching animation system.
  • Proven experience in character rigging and skinning.
  • Proven experience creating hand-crafted character animations.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine Animation Blueprints and Control Rig.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine Retarget Manager.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine Motion Matching system.
  • Experience working with Root Motion animations.

Good to Have

  • Experience with Unreal Engine Sequencer.

We are Fool's Theory, a company from Bielsko-Biała in Poland, creators of the game Seven: The Days Long Gone and The Thaumaturge!

Right now, we're starting production on our own new project, something different from what Fool's Theory has done so far. It's an exciting opportunity to join us at the very start, help shape its direction, and have a real influence on what it will become.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Gameplay Programmer to create and iterate on player and AI animations.
  • Retarget existing animation assets in Unreal Engine.
  • Refine and polish the Motion Matching animation system.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Technical Animator (or a similar role) in the GameDev industry.
  • Proven experience in character rigging and skinning.
  • Proven experience creating hand-crafted character animations.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine Animation Blueprints and Control Rig.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine Retarget Manager.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine Motion Matching system.
  • Experience working with Root Motion animations.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
