What does a Senior Print Production Manager do at Hogarth?
The Senior Print Production Manager ensures all aspects of the print production process is managed seamlessly and the necessary quality, adherence to client-supplied budget, and timing requirements are achieved. They provide strong project management skills to maintain schedules and track progress for all printed materials on various substrates.The Senior Print Production manager is also responsible for supervision of on-site installations and effective routing and reviewing of projects through the print production department.The range of work includes packaging, collateral projects, retail window and in-store graphics, large format Graphics, front lit and back lit fabric prints, event graphics, signage, OOH, table signs, gift cards, and premiums.
Reporting lines and key stakeholders
This role reports to the APAC Regional Director in Singapore.This role works closely with PPM team members, Channel team members and Channel clients.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Implement project specs and communicate any obstacles that would require additional funding to client-supplied brief and budget
- Track all deliverables by developing timelines and schedules with team. Flag issues that may affect internal or external workflow
- Brief and manage suppliers during proofing, colour management, and printing phases
- Share spec recommendations; provide color guidance, and advise on best methods for quality control for direct/indirect purchase
- Work with cross-functional teams to receive project briefs and clearly communicate project status
- Provide effective reporting and keep clients informed of the production status of all projects
On-site Approvals
- Attend on-site press approvals, ensuring perfect color reproduction as per the worldwide color approval specifications and guidelines
- Appreciate small colour variations and give directions to printers on the spot
- Join external business partners on-press and optimize their deliverables regarding quality and substrates as appropriate
- Attend on-site bindery and fulfilment approvals, including bindery checks, finishing, quality control, and kit spot-checking
- Strictly manage confidentiality requirements during on-site approvals
Installation
- Brief and manage store partner teams regarding space availability and dates of each store window,ensuring correct permits, to ensure seamless installation within tight launch deadlines
- Plan and manage the production and installation of New Store Opening collateral
- Track all shipments
- Pre-empt print and installation challenges and alert the 3D department before production to ensure assembly of both 2D and 3D structures to the correct high quality standards
- Inspect each site installation and rectify any flaws immediately
- Collation of all post installation photos, covering all angles, for submission with invoice and post-installation reports
- Liaise with store partner teams for costs, timings and permits to dismantle units, according to the store agreed terms
General Management
- Oversee external production agencies when they perform any of the supply chain services
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure agencies and suppliers are strictly following the production specifications, schedules and ways of working
- Train, manage and oversee team of Print Production Managers as required
Requirements
- University degree and/or a minimum of 7 years print production experience in an agency, in-house corporate graphic design/production department or equivalent group.
- Expert color analysis skills
- Extensive experience with;
- Pre-press
- Large and small format offset printing
- UV offset and flat-bed printing
- Screen printing
- Digital printing
- Dye sublimation on fabric techniques
- UV fabric front lit and back lit print
- Photographic mediums
- Post-production finishing techniques
- Digital photographic mediums
- Wood, fabric and metal fabrication techniques
- Solid knowledge in printing standards, such as ISO, G7 or GRACoL
- Experienced in on-press color approvals and bindery approvals at printers and finishers
- High levels of patience to achieve desired print quality, with many rounds of press pass for each visual
- Strong project manager who is proactive, highly organized, excellent at multitasking, comfortable under pressure, and able to work effectively as a team member
- Functional ability to review files in Creative Suite: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Understanding of latest print production software; GMG, Print Factory, etc
- Working knowledge and high competency in RGB to CMYK conversions and quality expectations, to client specifications, to provide oversight and guidance to clients and designers
- Knowledge of pixel resolution challenges and size enlargement ratios
- Understanding of colour variations on different substrates to recommend best options
- Strong written and spoken skills required for English and Japanese
- Must be able to travel as required, sometimes several weeks at a time
