Job Description

Crunchyroll is seeking a contract Senior Publicity Manager to lead global publicity strategy and UCANZ execution for theatrical anime releases and awards campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Publicity, Theatrical & Awards, this role involves collaborating with various internal teams to promote Crunchyroll's brand and content. Key responsibilities include planning and running publicity campaigns, managing media relations, coordinating talent interviews, handling film assets, leading strategic communications, and managing awards and festival submissions.

About the role

We're looking for a contract Senior Publicity Manager to lead publicity for our theatrical anime releases and awards campaigns. Reporting to the Director of Publicity, Theatrical & Awards, you'll shape global strategy and lead execution in UCANZ. Collaborating with Marketing, Communications, Brand, Audience Development, Creative Services, and Theatrical Distribution teams, you'll support a variety of anime films, from blockbuster, event style and arthouse, to promote Crunchyroll's brand and content within the anime and entertainment communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and run publicity campaigns from acquisition to box office.
  • Pitch stories and manage relationships with media across print, broadcast, online, and genre outlets.
  • Coordinate media tours and interviews with talent, including voice actors.
  • Manage film assets: press materials, screeners, stills.
  • Lead strategic communications planning and internal updates.
  • Track awards and festival deadlines, submit films, manage appearances.
  • Staff events, conventions, and press junkets as needed.
  • Work with agencies on day-to-day campaign execution.
  • Follow and work with Critics Circles for year-end inclusion.

We are considering remote applicants who can occasionally commute to attend meetings or work from our Los Angeles office.

About You

  • Deep knowledge and passion for anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture, including fandom communities and current entertainment trends.
  • Strong media contacts across multiple outlets and genres.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, Google Suite, PowerPoint, and Keynote.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Experience leading multi-functional, multi-level teams across time zones.
  • Flexible for domestic and international travel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, PR, English, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

About the Team

The Crunchyroll Communications team is composed of passionate publicists and storytellers who connect fans to the anime content they love. Our focus spans across multiple touchpoints, including SVOD, theatrical releases, events, merchandise, and more, ensuring our narrative reaches a global audience through effective and engaging press activities.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
