Senior Software Development Engineer (Backend)

They are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer (Backend) to join the Outlaw agile development team. This role involves developing web applications using technologies like NodeJS, Webpack, Firebase, ElasticSearch, and GCP, maintaining existing applications, optimizing software quality, and innovating features. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of Node.js backend development experience and strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills.

Must Have

• Provide expertise to the backend development team
• Develop web-based applications using NodeJS, Webpack, Firebase, ElasticSearch, GCP
• Perform day-to-day maintenance and support of existing applications
• Preserve and optimize software quality
• Innovate and improve software, features, processes, and technology
• Query and manipulate data (troubleshoot, reports, migrations)
• API integration and maintenance (Proprietary Open API, third-party APIs)
• Perform detailed code reviews
• Work within assigned team, mentoring and reviewing junior engineers
• Participate in on-call rotation for escalated emergency support
• Communicate frequently, clearly, and effectively with technical and management audiences
• 7+ years Node.js backend development experience

• PostgreSQL database design and optimization
• RESTful API design and implementation
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP strongly preferred)

About Outlaw:

In April 2021, we acquired Outlaw, which is an end-to-end, modern contract management solution that streamlines the contract lifecycle for organizations - from templated document generation to cloud-based redlining to real-time negotiation and eSigning. Unlike other contract tools, Outlaw includes an advanced proprietary word processor which enables organizations to transform existing contracts into reusable templates that are error-free and seamlessly editable with dynamic legal logic built in.

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join Outlaw's agile development team and continue rapidly adding new functionality to our best-in-class platform.

This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering at Outlaw

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide expertise to the back end development team by efficiently and productively:
• Developing web based applications using technologies such as NodeJS, Webpack, Firebase, ElasticSearch, GCP
• Performing day to day maintenance and support of all existing applications in use at Outlaw
• Preserving and optimizing the quality of the software
• Innovating and improving on the software, features, processes, and technology
• Query and manipulate data (troubleshoot, reports, migrations, ...)
• API integration and maintenance. (Proprietary Open API, third-party APIs)
• Performing detailed code reviews
• Work within the assigned team to complete duties as assigned, while mentoring and reviewing more junior engineers.
• Be part of an on-call rotation with other team members to provide escalated emergency support
• Communicate frequently, clearly, and effectively with various technical and management audiences

Knowledge & Skills

Required Skills:

• 7+ years Node.js backend development experience
