Job Summary
AFRY is looking for a Road Engineer to join their Road & Rail department in Denmark. The role involves working on exciting and varied road and drainage projects, with a focus on sustainable transport infrastructure. Responsibilities include designing roads, paths, and associated drainage, preparing drawings, quantities, and descriptions, contributing to tender materials, and participating in site supervision. The engineer will be part of an ambitious interdisciplinary team, developing technical and professional skills through collaboration with experienced colleagues.
Must Have
- Design roads, paths, and associated drainage
- Prepare drawings, quantities, and descriptions according to current standards
- Contribute to tender materials
- Participate in technical supervision and follow-up during the execution phase
- Responsible for smaller technical sub-tasks in projects
- Civil or diploma engineer degree
- Experience with road design, geometry, and drainage
- Proficiency with digital tools such as MicroStation and OpenRoads
- Knowledge of AB18/ABR18
- Knowledge of tender processes
- Fluent in Danish and English, both written and spoken
- Experience in the consulting industry
- Experience with project management of smaller and medium-sized projects
- Approximately 3 years or more of experience

In Road & Rail, we develop and advise on sustainable transport infrastructure for future generations. You will become part of an ambitious interdisciplinary team that prides itself on finding functional, well-thought-out, and innovative solutions. Road, tunnel, railway, and ITS are among our core areas, and our clients range from large public developers to private companies.
As a Road Engineer in Road & Sewage, you will be an important part of a team where you work with the design and practical implementation of small and medium-sized road and drainage tasks. You will receive ongoing professional sparring and develop your skills through close collaboration with experienced colleagues.
Your tasks will include
- design of roads, paths, and associated drainage
- preparation of drawings, quantities, and descriptions according to current standards
- contribution to tender materials
- participation in technical supervision and follow-up during the execution phase
- responsibility for smaller technical sub-tasks in the projects

Your permanent workplace will be at our office in Aarhus, Herning, or Herlev – depending on your own location.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who want to develop professionally and contribute actively to collaboration across disciplines. You thrive on working structured, are quality-conscious, and known for seeing tasks through to completion. We believe you will fit in well if you:
- are educated as a civil or diploma engineer
- have experience with road design, geometry, and drainage
- are familiar with digital tools such as MicroStation and OpenRoads
- have knowledge of AB18/ABR18
- have knowledge of tender processes
- can communicate effortlessly in Danish and English – both written and oral.
You have worked in the consulting industry and have experience with project management of smaller and medium-sized projects, as well as approximately 3 years of experience or more. You understand the importance of close dialogue with clients, colleagues, and suppliers, and you thrive in an environment where collaboration and coordination are crucial.
