Senior Software Engineer - Collection (Cortex Cloud)

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Cortex Cloud team. This role involves designing and building high-throughput infrastructure to support billions of events per second, including storing, processing, and making data accessible. The engineer will be responsible for the complete software development lifecycle, from requirement analysis to deployment, and will drive innovation from ideation to implementation within a startup-like group supported by a large corporation.

Must Have

• Responsible for the complete software development lifecycle including requirement analysis, design, development, deployment, and support
• Drive ideas and initiatives, making innovation a reality, and lead colleagues from ideation through implementation
• 4+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience in distributed cloud products
• Experience in designing, building and maintaining a scalable server side application
• Experienced with a variety of database and caching technologies (Mysql / Cassandra / Google BigQuery / Amazon Redshift / ElasticSearch/ Redis…)

Good to Have

• Experience in Go
• Experience in Python
• Experience with GCP
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with Azure

Qualifications

Your Experience

• BS in Computer Science, equivalent knowledge or equivalent military experience
• 4+ years of software engineering experience – Must
• Experience in distributed cloud products
• Experience in designing, building and maintaining a scalable server side application
• Experienced with a variety of database and caching technologies (Mysql / Cassandra / Google BigQuery / Amazon Redshift / ElasticSearch/ Redis…)
• Experience in Go / Python – an advantage
• Experience with GCP / AWS / Azure / Oracle Cloud – advantage

The Team

Our team is responsible for managing the primary entrance gates of customer data to the platform, integrating keen customer understanding with the latest engineering solutions to facilitate high-throughput, minimal-latency, and high-scale data ingestion. We are required to be dynamic and fast, consistently adapting and catching up with the latest technologies employed by our customers to ensure they keep getting the best security coverage for their operational environments.

Our team possesses expert knowledge in high-throughput data retrieval and maintains close collaboration with product teams, customers, and other engineering departments. It functions as a pivotal engineering hub - being the crucial interface between the customer environments and the advanced analytical solutions provided by the Cortex platform.
