Job Summary

Cantina, founded by Sean Parker, is an invite-only platform enabling creators to bring AI ideas to life as social bots for entertainment. The media team is building an advanced real-time and streaming media platform, focusing on stability, high-quality video/audio, and new features for AI bots. This Senior Software Engineer in Test role involves shaping automated test infrastructure, working with engineers, designing test frameworks, writing automated tests, and mentoring team members to ensure glitch-free user experiences.

Must Have

  • Develop automation from scratch
  • Work on several different projects using distinct test automation frameworks
  • Test RESTful web services
  • Test client-side web and mobile SDKs
  • Test real-time media services
  • Architect new projects in multiple frameworks
  • Tackle difficult problems in evaluating audio and video performance
  • Set the direction and establish the path forward for automating testing components
  • Integrate automation testing into the overall development process
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience as a software engineer or in a related field
  • Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Expertise with Mocha, TestCafe, Saucelabs or similar test automation tools
  • Expertise with GitHub, Jenkins, and other CI technologies
  • Experience developing asynchronous and multithreaded software
  • Experience as a full stack or web front end developer
  • Object-oriented programming and design skills

A bit about the role:

The media team at Cantina is creating one of the most advanced platforms for real-time and streaming media in the world. Media services are all about stability and high quality video/audio, while also implementing new features for the AI bots. The media team is tasked with solving difficult problems and maintaining a high quality bar to ensure that users have positive, glitch-free experiences.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Test to shape the development of our automated test infrastructure. You will work closely with software engineers in both development and test engineering, design and extend test frameworks, write automated tests, and mentor other members of the team.

Mentorship and leadership is a key component of this role. You will be expected to help other members of the automation team build their skill sets and to help quality engineers from outside the automation team learn to contribute to the base of automated tests.

A bit about the work:

  • Develop automation from scratch and work on several different projects using distinct test automation frameworks
  • Test RESTful web services, client-side web and mobile SDKs, and real-time media services
  • Architect new projects in multiple frameworks
  • Tackle difficult problems in evaluating audio and video performance under different network conditions and device environments
  • Set the direction and establish the path forward for automating testing of components and integrating automation testing into the overall development process

A bit about you:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience as a software engineer or in a related field.
  • Experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Expertise with Mocha, TestCafe, Saucelabs or similar test automation tools.
  • Expertise with GitHub, Jenkins, and other CI technologies.
  • Experience developing asynchronous and multithreaded software.
  • Experience as a full stack or web front end developer.
  • Extremely strong written and oral communications skills.
  • A strongly collaborative mindset, with a drive to teach and share knowledge.
  • Ability to ramp up quickly on multiple platforms to troubleshoot and extend existing tests.
  • Object-oriented programming and design skills.

Location:

We have offices located in Sunnyvale, CA, San Francisco, CA and Brooklyn, NY. Our Media Engineering team strongly desires candidates available to work in the Bay Area, in a hybrid setting. For reference, 95% of the Media Engineering team works from the Bay Area.

Pay Equity:

In compliance with Pay Transparency Laws, the base salary range for this role is between $130,000-$160,000. When determining compensation, a number of factors will be considered, including skills, experience, job scope, location, and competitive compensation market data.
