Job Summary
The Traffic Infrastructure Global Engineering (TIGE)-Traffic Platform team at ByteDance is seeking experienced software engineers to enhance and expand their multi-cloud based Cloud Native Traffic Platform. Responsibilities include designing and developing features for traffic software (DNS Server, L4 and L7 Proxy, Web Caching, FaaS Runtime), building data pipelines and telemetry systems, developing API acceleration and other networking services, problem solving and performance tuning, and researching new technologies for efficient traffic processing.
Must Have
- 3+ years experience in developing network systems
- Strong developing skills in Linux environment
- Master's degree in Computer Science/related fields
- Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPs, DNS)
- Microservice architecture familiarity
- Docker & Kubernetes experience
- Understanding of software deployment fundamentals and automation
- Knowledge of operating system concepts
Good to Have
- Experience in building large scale network services on cloud (AWS, GCP, OCI)
- Experience in designing and developing high performance network loadbalancer products
- Experience in developing proxy software (Nginx and Envoy)
- System Programming experience with low level system calls
- Experience in developing Web Caching software (Apache Traffic Server, Varnish)
- Edge Computing and FaaS Runtime development experience
- Distributed or cloud service based management system experience
- Proficiency in networking protocols (HTTP2, HTTP3/QUIC, TLS1.3)

Job Description
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $142560 - $225720 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
