Job Summary
Psyonix, an Epic Games subsidiary, seeks a Senior Systems Designer to lead the design, management, and implementation of game systems for Rocket League. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create engaging features and content, developing systems for match feedback, player analytics, and matchmaking, and writing clear design documentation. The designer will also be responsible for guiding tactical implementation, establishing timelines, ensuring stakeholder alignment, and responding to community feedback to enhance the player experience.
Must Have
- Design, develop, implement, and improve systems for Rocket League
- Create game systems supporting match feedback, player analytics, and matchmaking
- Write clear design documentation and lead design initiatives
- Collaborate with design, development, production, and product management teams
- Work with production to establish clear timelines for design tasks
- Ensure alignment among stakeholders and oversee feature implementation
- Monitor community feedback, identify player needs, and develop action plans
- 7+ years of experience in game design, with emphasis on systems design for competitive multiplayer/live service games
- 5+ years of experience in technical design, implementing systems for published competitive multiplayer games
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong oral communication skills and experience in multidisciplinary collaboration
- Experience with Unreal Editor and Blueprints
- Professional experience with a high-level programming language

What You'll Do
Psyonix, an Epic Games subsidiary, is looking for a Senior Systems Designer to design, manage, implement, and lead game systems for Rocket League. You will work with development teams composed of artists, programmers, designers, producers, and product managers to create features and content that will entertain and captivate the Rocket League player community.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Design, develop, implement, and improve systems in line with Rocket League's design principles
- Create game systems that support match feedback, player analytics, and automatic matchmaking
- Write clear and concise design documentation, and lead design initiatives for Rocket League
- Collaborate with Epic's design, development, production, and product management teams to guide the tactical implementation of Rocket League initiatives
- Work with the production team to establish clear timelines for design-related tasks, priorities, and statuses
- Ensure alignment between multiple stakeholders and oversee the implementation of the features, systems, and designs for which you are responsible
- Monitor community feedback, identify player needs, assess what is feasible, and develop an action plan to address them
What We're Looking For
- Passion for Rocket League and Esport games
- Familiarity and interest in the features and mechanics of the Fortnite ecosystem
- Advanced experience (7+ years) in game design, with an emphasis on systems design for competitive multiplayer and/or live service games
- Advanced experience (5+ years) in technical design, focused on implementing systems for published competitive multiplayer games
- Excellent written communication skills and demonstrated experience effectively conveying design ideas through documentation
- Strong oral communication skills and experience in multidisciplinary collaboration
- Passion for personal development and for mentoring colleagues
- Experience with Unreal Editor and Blueprints
- Professional experience with a high-level programming language (e.g., C++, C#, Swift, JavaScript, Python, Verse, etc.)
