Kaizen Gaming is seeking a Senior Tax Specialist to join its global tax team, focusing on Maltese direct and indirect taxation. This role involves managing tax compliance and governance for Maltese entities, ensuring adherence to local tax regulations, and supporting the overall tax strategy. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of experience in a multinational or audit/consulting firm, demonstrating excellent organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage complex projects with diverse stakeholders.
Good To Have:
  • MSc in Economics or Taxation.
  • Professional tax certifications (e.g., CTA, ACA).
  • Experience in a multinational organization or audit/consulting firm.
  • IFRS knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Maltese or other languages.
Must Have:
  • Ensure timely and accurate compliance with Maltese direct and indirect tax regulations, including VAT and income tax.
  • Monitor tax filings, payments, and reporting obligations for Maltese entities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external tax advisors to ensure compliance with Maltese tax laws.
  • Review and validate tax returns prepared by external providers.
  • Assist in analyzing tax implications for new business initiatives or transactions within Malta.
  • Monitor changes in Maltese tax laws and assess their impact on company operations.
  • Extract and analyze data from business systems to prepare accurate tax reports, performing quality control checks.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance tax compliance processes by implementing new controls and procedures.
  • Provide clear and accurate guidance on tax-related inquiries from internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to tax audits and inquiries, ensuring timely and effective communication with authorities.
  • BSc in Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • 4-7 years of professional experience in taxation, preferably with a focus on Maltese direct and indirect taxes.
  • Strong knowledge of Maltese VAT and income tax legislation.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Understanding of financial accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Self-motivated, with a proactive and independent approach to tasks.

This role involves managing tax compliance and governance for our Maltese entities, ensuring adherence to local tax regulations while supporting the organization’s overall tax strategy.

As a Senior Tax Specialist, you will:

  • Compliance Management:
  • Ensure timely and accurate compliance with Maltese direct and indirect tax regulations, including VAT, income tax, and other applicable taxes;
  • Monitor tax filings, payments, and reporting obligations for Maltese entities;
  • Tax Governance and Reporting:
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external tax advisors to ensure compliance with Maltese tax laws;
  • Review and validate tax returns prepared by external providers to ensure accuracy and adherence to local legislation;
  • Strategic Tax Support:
  • Assist in analyzing tax implications for new business initiatives or transactions within Malta;
  • Monitor changes in Maltese tax laws and assess their impact on the company’s operations;
  • Process Optimization:
  • Extract and analyze data from business systems to prepare accurate tax reports, performing quality control checks;
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance tax compliance processes by implementing new controls and procedures;
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Provide clear and accurate guidance on tax-related inquiries from internal teams and external stakeholders;
  • Respond to tax audits and inquiries, ensuring timely and effective communication with authorities.
