Senior Technical Animator

Epic Games is looking for a Senior Technical Animator passionate about expressive character movement to join the Cinematics team. You will collaborate internally and with external partners, contributing directly to high-profile trailers for Fortnite and other Epic IP projects. This role focuses on creating rigging structures, optimizing production processes, and developing tools, constantly improving models, movements, and tools.

Must Have

• Create rigging structures for characters, props, and vehicles
• Configure elements in Unreal Engine 5, including cloth simulations, physics, and Blueprints
• Collaborate with modelers and animators for smooth production and high-quality asset delivery
• Develop and improve production pipeline tools with engine and project leads
• Oversee technical animation work for cinematic trailers, both internal and outsourced
• Provide support and optimization solutions to the animation team (performance, engine stability, bug fixing, workflow optimization)
• Design selection interfaces for the animation team
• In-depth experience in creating rigging structures in Unreal Engine
• Portfolio demonstrating the creation of rigging structures for a variety of characters, bipeds, and creatures, including faces
• Good knowledge of the artistic production process in Unreal Engine 5
• Experience in developing processes and tools related to character creation

What you'll do

Within this talented team of seasoned and emerging artists, you will collaborate with an internal team while working with external partners. You will contribute directly to the creation of high-profile trailers related to Fortnite and other projects from Epic's intellectual properties. Joining this team means wanting to solve problems, collaborate with other artists, and constantly improve models, movements, and tools. The core of this role relies on creating rigging structures, optimizing production processes, and developing tools.

What you'll be responsible for

• Create rigging structures for characters, props, and vehicles
• Configure elements in Unreal Engine 5, including cloth simulations, physics, and Blueprints
• Collaborate with modelers and animators to ensure a smooth production workflow and delivery of high-quality assets
• Develop and improve production pipeline tools in collaboration with engine and project leads, to continuously optimize internal tools
• Oversee technical animation work for cinematic trailers, both internal and outsourced
• Offer support and optimization solutions to the animation team, including performance improvement, engine stability, bug fixing related to control structures and constraints, as well as workflow optimization
• Design selection interfaces for the animation team

What we're looking for

• In-depth experience in creating rigging structures in Unreal Engine
• Portfolio demonstrating the creation of rigging structures for a variety of characters, bipeds, and creatures, including faces
• Strong aesthetic sense of detail, especially regarding character deformation and physical movements
• Good knowledge of the artistic production process in Unreal Engine 5
• Positive attitude, with excellent written communication and teamwork skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Experience in developing processes and tools related to character creation
