Job Summary
The Senior Tooling Engineer at Pentair will manage multiple injection mold tooling projects from inception to completion, supporting plant-wide New Product Development. Responsibilities include overseeing new and replacement tooling, conducting mold flow analysis for optimal design parameters, and applying Lean methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. The role involves reviewing 3D product designs, implementing design changes for improved performance, and ensuring new tools adhere to company standards. Additionally, the engineer will coordinate sampling, metrology requests, and serve as a liaison between design engineering and manufacturing.
Must Have
- Manage multiple injection mold tooling projects to support NPD projects
- Conduct tool mold flow analysis to ensure proper design parameters
- Utilize Lean tools (RCCM, 5-whys, A3, etc.) to improve downtime trends and reduce cost
- Provide budgetary quotes and timing for new injection molding tools
- Review 3D models of product design and drive design changes for improved product performance, decreased cycle times, and increased tooling life
- Perform tooling design review and interface with product engineers for design changes
- Perform mold flow analysis
- Calculate press tonnage, cycle times, and piece part pricing
- Monitor tooling builds to timeline, manage engineering changes
- Coordinate sampling, metrology requests, and changes to tooling when it arrives on site
- Liaison between design engineering and manufacturing on new products and product changes
- Participate in lean processes to improve plant layout, process flow, and labor efficiency while implementing state-of-the-art ergonomic and safety standards
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar background
- 7-10 years’ experience in injection mold processing, tooling, and project management
- Experience with managing injection molding tooling projects
- Injection molding processing experience
- SolidWorks (or similar design software) experience
- SolidWorks Moldflow experience
- Strong project management skills

We have an opportunity for a Senior Tooling Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for multiple injection mold tooling projects to support plant-wide NPD projects. You will manage tooling projects from cradle to grave, including new tooling and managing replacement tooling. You will conduct tool mold flow analysis to ensure proper design parameters. You will utilize Lean tools (RCCM, 5-whys, A3, etc.) to improve downtime trends and reduce cost as needed. In addition, you will work with limited supervision indirectly lead others within the tooling department.
You will:
- Provide budgetary quotes and timing for new injection molding tools.
- Review 3D models of product design and drive design changes for improved product performance, decreased cycle times, and increased tooling life.
- Perform tooling design review and interface with product engineers for design changes, ensuring new tools conform to tooling standards.
- Perform mold flow analysis.

Key Qualifications:
- Have earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a similar background
- 7-10 years’ experience in injection mold processing, tooling, and project management.
- Experience with managing injection molding tooling projects required.
- Injection molding processing experience required.
- SolidWorks (or similar design software) experience required.
- SolidWorks Moldflow experience required.
- Strong project management skills required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to travel 15% of the year.
Compensation:
For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay will be $95000 – $177300 per year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus and/or long-term incentives.
