Hidden Door is seeking a creative and results-driven Social Media & Community Manager on a part-time, contract basis. This fully-remote role focuses on growing the audience across social media, email, Discord, and forums, while nurturing vibrant fan spaces. The manager will design and implement social media strategies, manage content creation and posting, drive engagement, and analyze performance, supporting the launch of a platform for role-playing in fictional worlds.
Must Have
- Understand audience deeply

- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills
- Ability to generate ideas, experiment, and represent brand
- Passion for storytelling and games

Role overview
This is a hit-the-ground-running role at the intersection of community and marketing. You'll be joining us as we prepare an initial launch whose audience will include players (many of whom are also creators!), authors, filmmakers, and other IP rights-holders. We're building a place for fans to experience diverse stories in a rich variety of worlds. A healthy, active, and creative community is vital for our players and our product to thrive.
Your primary goal will be to grow our audience across channels — including, but not limited to, social, email, Discord, and forums — while also nurturing welcoming and vibrant fan spaces, as we simultaneously develop our product and content.
This fully-remote position is approximately 25-30 hours/week for a 6 month contract, with the option to extend to full-time.
##### Things you'll do:
- Audience understanding
- Gain a deep understanding of our audience, and the things they love
- Social media strategy
- Design and implement a cross-platform social media strategy prioritizing audience reach
- Manage content across TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn and Instagram
- Speak to our current player community in Discord
- Content creation
- Project manage the creation of 3-5 posts per week in collaboration with team members
- Create 2-3 additional content pieces weekly (emails, blogs, game moments, etc.)
- Posting & engagement
- Manage the posting schedule for all content
- Drive engagement within the first 1-2 hours of posting across all platforms
- Manage community engagement by responding to comments, messages, and engaging with followers regularly
- Analytics & reporting
- Provide periodic analysis of content performance across platforms
- Develop recommendations for improvement
About you
We'd love to meet if you have:
- Proven experience in social media management, preferably in entertainment/media/fandom
- Proven track record of growing social media accounts and increasing engagement across multiple platforms
- Familiarity with TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn and Instagram best practices
- Strong content creation skills
- Basic video editing abilities
- You can make the media you need to go with your posts (screenshots, images, etc.)
- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills
- You should have lots of ideas for content, and be willing to move quickly and experiment
- Strong understanding of how to represent our brand without sounding like a robot
- A love of storytelling and games, of any type
And it'd be ideal if you also have:
- Experience working at an early-stage company. We all wear many hats!

Other things to know
- We're a small team with shared core working hours centered on Eastern US Time. Ideal candidates would work a couple of days per week in our Brooklyn office; fully remote (with occasional travel) considered for exceptionally strong candidates.
- We love getting together as a whole team IRL! Our team meets up quarterly, often internationally, for planning and fun. We also regularly gather ~1x/month in NYC for jam sessions on product, game design, marketing, and more. Expect adventure 🚀
