Social Media Coordinator (FTC)

Our Community team builds and maintains the most passionate and engaged player community in gaming, with gamers from around the globe contributing to and assisting in the ongoing development of Star Citizen, the industry’s most ambitious game that will deliver a persistent universe of unprecedented scale and limitless possibilities. We see our player community as an extension of our team and partners in building this epic universe together. We're looking for an Associate Social Media Manager who is passionate about bolstering that relationship, championing the voice of our backers, and of course, having fun.  

Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games creates cutting-edge videogames that defy expectations. We’re currently developing Star Citizen, a record-breaking multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. Join us as we break boundaries and make videogame history. 

This role is a full time, fixed term contract until 23rd December 2024 and is based in our Austin, Texas studio. 

What does a Social Media Coordinator at CIG do? 

• Collaborate closely with the Social Media Manager to brainstorm creative ideas for supporting major announcements, launches, promotions, and other key events  

• Create and schedule day-to-day content and communications on social media channels owned by Cloud Imperium Games, including (but not limited to) the Star Citizen brand accounts on Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Twitch, and YouTube 

• Capture and execute on-the-spot social publishes during live in-person events to support social strategies 

• Develop a deep working knowledge of game content and community to actively engage and moderate as needed 

• Work collaboratively with the Community Team to monitor discussions to identify common player issues and assist in delivering rapid response to emerging trends and opportunities 

• Identify, cultivate, and engage advocates including passionate influencers that can help amplify our core reach 

• Assist in maintaining social media content calendars and keeping them regularly updated 

What do we look for, for a Social Media Coordinator? 

• Experience managing large scale corporate social media accounts 

• Strong understanding of current social media trends and best practices 

• Excellent proficiency in written English grammar, copywriting, and proofreading skills 

• A good eye for creative content and attention to detail for fine-tuning creative assets and briefs 

• Deep level of understanding gaming culture and related online communities
