Job Description

As a Software Engineer in the Data Team, you will collaborate with data collection and algorithm experts to bring the product vision for the next generation of driver monitoring innovations to reality. This includes implementing PC-based software to interface with ground truth systems, working with AI/ML teams, defining a roadmap for new tools, and improving handling of ground truth data in automated systems. The role involves contributing to a team focused on developing innovative driver monitoring technology designed to enhance the safety and comfort of the vehicle cabin. High-quality development and test data is critical to the development of robust and reliable product software.
Must have:
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
  • Well-rounded programming skills in multiple languages including C, C++, Python, Qt, HTML, CSS
  • Familiarity with Linux application software development
  • Background in statistics and error estimation
  • Good knowledge of SW engineering tools and familiarity with general technical documentation
  • Very good communication skills in English in written and spoken form
  • 5+ years of experience writing software in multiple languages including C and Python
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with cloud environments, such as Azure or AWS
  • Practical experience in data science, data mining, statistics, and analysis of large data sets
  • 2+ years of experience working in an Agile development team
  • Familiarity with structured software development processes (CI/CD, Automotive SPICE) and tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Polarion, GIT, etc.)
  • Experience working within a multi-regional or multi-site development team

Your Role

We’re seeking highly motivated Software Engineers to help develop innovative driver monitoring technology designed to enhance the safety and comfort of the vehicle cabin. Driver monitoring is a new and rapidly growing area that provides life-saving products such as driver drowsiness/attention monitoring or seat belt recognition. Driver monitoring fits within Aptiv’s overall effort within interior sensing, which also includes features such as seat occupancy monitoring, gesture recognition as well as multiple other convenience features. High quality development and test data is critical to the development of robust and reliable product software.

As a Software Engineer in our Data Team, you will work with data collection and algorithm experts to bring the product vision for the next generation of driver monitoring innovations to reality by:

  • Implementing PC-based software to interface with new and existing ground truth systems

  • Working with AI/ML teams for automatic data labeling approaches and algorithms

  • Assisting the data team to define a roadmap of innovating new tools and methods to reduce the cost and improve the reliability of ground truth measurement

  • Work with DevOps and test teams to improve handling of ground truth data in automated systems

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field

  • Well-rounded programming skills in multiple languages including C, C++, Python, Qt, HTML, CSS

  • Familiarity with Linux application software development

  • Background in statistics and error estimation
