Job Description

The FC Developer Experience team at Electronic Arts is seeking a Software Engineer to optimize developer workflows and improve efficiency for EA SPORTS FC. This role involves building systems for workflow insights, developing tools for Continuous Integration, evaluating code quality tools, researching AI-driven development, and partnering with stakeholders to address pain points. The goal is to enhance velocity, quality, and developer satisfaction across all FC development.
Good To Have:
  • Experience with using and maintaining build systems on large code bases.
  • Experience working with game engines and associated game development tools.
  • Familiarity in working with large amounts of data and the associate tooling to ingest, process and aggregate it.
Must Have:
  • Build and integrate systems that provide insights into developer workflow bottlenecks.
  • Develop tools and processes that improve the performance of Continuous Integration based developer feedback loop.
  • Evaluate and drive adoption of code quality and software quality development tools.
  • Research application of AI driven development tools into FC’s development workflows.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the development team to identify pain points and solutions.
  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Solid programming fundamentals and proficiency with C++ and Python.
  • Experience with usage or deployment of Continuous Integration automation frameworks.
  • Professional experience with using centralized version control systems.
  • Good understanding of end to end software development cycle and proven experience in building, productizing and maintaining software applications.

The Role:

The FC Developer Experience team focuses on systematic and scalable improvements in core developer efficiency.

In this role you will join our engineering group and partner cross functionally with teams within FC and Frostbite to optimize workflows, drive adoption of internal tooling and automation, identify and remove process bottlenecks, and promote engineering best practices that improve velocity, quality, and developer satisfaction across all FC development.

Your responsibilities:

  • Build and integrate systems that provide insights into developer workflow bottlenecks and help define metrics for tracking developer efficiency and satisfaction.
  • Develop tools and processes that improve the performance of our Continuous Integration based developer feedback loop.
  • Evaluate and drive adoption of code quality and software quality development tools. Examples include static and dynamic code analysis, code coverage and automated testing.
  • Research application of AI driven development tools into FC’s development workflows.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the development team to identify pain points in their workflows and solutions to address them.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Solid programming fundamentals and proficiency with C++ and Python.
  • Experience with usage or deployment of Continuous Integration automation frameworks.
  • Professional experience with using centralized version control systems.
