Overview

The Growth Platform Team builds the foundation for Octopus’s product-led growth. Our mission is to create the data, systems, and infrastructure that let every team at Octopus move faster and make smarter decisions.

Octopus is scaling to reach thousands more users and customers, across multiple products and journeys. Achieving that requires new growth infrastructure: unified customer insights, experimentation systems, billing and identity platforms, and automation that removes friction throughout the customer lifecycle. That’s what we’re here to build.

As a software engineer on this team, you’ll work on high-impact systems that directly influence how customers discover, try, buy, and adopt Octopus. You’ll also grow your skills and career in an environment that values learning, collaboration, and experimentation.

If you’re excited about building the systems that power growth, and about growing your own career along the way, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a remote role based in Australia or New Zealand.

What you’ll do

  • Build and improve shared infrastructure for billing, identity, messaging, and experimentation.
  • Automate key customer lifecycle processes, from onboarding to upgrade prompts.
  • Help unify signals from across Octopus into a clear view of the customer journey.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and growth specialists across the company.
  • Learn from senior engineers and contribute your own ideas and improvements.

What you’ll bring

  • 2+ years of professional (non-internship) software development experience.
  • Confidence working independently on small projects, with curiosity to ask for help when tackling the unknown.
  • A focus on learning, with a trajectory toward becoming a Senior Engineer and beyond.
  • Enjoyment of collaborative problem solving and openness to constructive feedback.
  • An interest in how technical systems connect to product growth and business outcomes.
  • Experience with .NET, SQL, or data-intensive distributed systems is preferred, with an eagerness to deepen those skills on the job.

Why join this team

  • Impact: Your work directly shapes how customers experience Octopus and whether they succeed.
  • Learning: You’ll gain exposure to multiple domains such as data, billing, identity, and experimentation with guidance from experienced peers.
  • Growth: The team sits at the center of Octopus’s most ambitious goals. As the scope grows, so do your opportunities.
