Software Engineer I

Progress (Nasdaq: PRGS) is a software provider enabling customers to develop, deploy, and manage responsible, AI-powered applications. Join as a Software Engineer I to contribute to product development and improvements, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will work on committed features with high quality, adhering to Agile methodologies, and be comfortable with Windows and Linux/UNIX operating systems.

Must Have

• Contribute to development and testing in areas of ongoing product development and improvements.
• Deliver key committed features within timelines with high quality.
• Adhere to Agile practices and methodologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required.
• 0-2 years of professional experience in a product development organization.
• Good programming skills preferably Java and/or JavaScript.
• Knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Knowledge of Database concepts.
• Comfortable working on both Unix and Windows operating systems.

Good to Have

• Familiarity with JavaScript, NodeJS.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of Copilot.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team to brainstorm, plan and develop new features.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

In this role you will:

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Exhibit passion for software development.
• Apply system thinking to solve business and technical problems.
• Quick learner who can learn and apply latest technologies in their work.
• Contribute to development and testing in areas of ongoing product development and improvements.
• Comfortable to work on Windows and Linux/UNIX operating systems
• Flexible to work in any area and technology depending upon the need.
• Deliver key committed features within timelines with high quality.
• Adhere to Agile practises and methodologies. Participate in all Agile ceremonies.

Your background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required
• 0-2 years of professional experience in a product development organization
• Good programming skills preferably Java and/or JavaScript (& openness to learn other relevant technologies)
• Knowledge of algorithms and data structures
• Knowledge of Database concepts
• It would be an asset if you have:
• Familiarity with JavaScript, NodeJS
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools
• Knowledge of Copilot
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team to brainstorm, plan and develop new features.
