As a Software Engineering Chapter Lead – Senior Lead, you will combine strong expertise in Software Engineering with people leadership. You will connect, engage, and develop chapter members to deliver value aligned with Telstra’s strategic roadmap. Acting as a catalyst for the enterprise, you will leverage your technical domain experience to collaborate with stakeholders, shaping Software Engineering strategy, solutions, and capability to continuously deliver customer value.
Must Have
- Building strong, trusting relationships within teams for a high-performing culture.
- Providing clarity on performance, behavioral goals, and expectations to chapter team.
- Managing resource allocation, including recruitment and selection.
- Collaborating with Chapter Area Lead and other Chapter Leads on tools/practices.
- Providing clarity on current and future capability requirements for chapter members.

- Performance Management including coaching/providing difficult feedback.
- Building high-performing teams with empowerment, autonomy, and alignment.
- Expertise in Engineering Processes, Practices & Tools (e.g., TDD, CI/CD, DevOps).
- Engineering Leadership with a big picture focus to drive improvements.
- Representing relevant teams or projects in strategic discussions.
- 12+ years of overall experience.
- Hands-on expertise in Java, JavaScript & HTML/CSS.
- Expert knowledge in UI Technologies like React.JS development.
- Expert knowledge in Microservices architecture and REST APIs.
- Hands-on development experience in AWS/PCF.
- Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes concepts and components.
- Experience developing in an Agile environment using CI/CD pipelines and Git.

Focus of the Role
This role is two-fold where you combine your strong expertise in Software Engineering with people leadership. Through your passion for leadership you connect, engage and develop your chapter members so they deliver value aligned to Telstra’s strategic roadmap. Through your initiative work, you act as a catalyst for the enterprise. You bring experience in the Software Engineering technical domain and work with multiple stakeholders to understand business needs, and help shape our Software Engineering strategy, solutions and capability to ensure we continuously deliver value to our customers.

What You’ll Do
Building strong, trusting relationships within teams that enable a high performing team culture aligned to living our values.
Providing clarity on performance, behavioural goals and expectations to your chapter team to ensure that they can contribute to both mission and chapter activity.
Managing resource allocation, including recruitment and/or selection, to ensure capability required is available and resourcing issues are mitigated, in collaboration with Group Owners.
Collaborating with Chapter Area Lead and other Chapter Leads to determine and implement tools/common practices to be used by Chapter Members.
Providing clarity to chapter members on current and future capability requirements to enable them to own and drive their development so they can continually grow and add value in different ways.
People Development/ Management & Career development
Performance Management including coaching/ providing difficult feedback.
Building High performing teams with empowerment, autonomy, and alignment
Engineering Processes, Practices & Tools ( E.g TDD, CI/CD, DevOps, etc)
Engineering Leadership (You have a big picture focus and identify ways in which the team or the technology/solution can be improved, and you drive the resolution)

About You
- 12+ Yrs of overall exp
- Hands-on expertise in one or more languages Java, JavaScript & HTML/CSS
- Expert knowledge in UI Technologies like React.JS development
- Expert knowledge in Microservices architecture and REST APIs
- Hands-on development experience in AWS/PCF
- Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes concepts and components
- Experience developing in an Agile environment using CI/CD pipelines and Git
