Focus of the Role

As a Software Engineering - Senior Lead, you have extensive experience in the Software Engineering domain, and a passion for coaching and developing people to perform at their absolute best. You play a leading role in developing the skills and capability of our specialised software team, supporting them to develop scalable solutions across the end-to-end software development lifecycle. Your continuous learning and improvement mindset, people leadership and collaboration skills are critical to success in this role.

What You’ll Do

  • As a Software Engineering - Senior Lead, you apply a breadth of experience in the Software Engineering Domain, and a passion for people to:
  • Be accountable for the design, build and maintenance of multiple complex software application technologies and their interaction with Telstra processes and systems; ensuring quality deliverables, resolving issues and maximising customer satisfaction
  • Leverage advanced communication skills to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders (across customer, partner and supplier environments), ensuring functional business requirements are translated into customer solutions and align to agreed architecture and technology roadmaps
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement by developing your own knowledge to bringing the latest thinking to your role, and governing the continuous improvement of our programs, processes and systems
  • Promote quality and consistency of Software Engineering standards, ensuring your team adopts enterprise-wide requirements and best-practice tools, process and methodologies
  • Drive strategic initiatives designed to evolve the capability of your team, to align to strategic roadmaps, manage resource allocation, and build new growth opportunities
  • Lead, coach and support your team of technical staff, working with them to build their capability and be able to deliver outstanding work.
  • This includes conducting 1:1 reviews with your team to manage performance and career development
  • Provide guidance and direction when sought out by others to resolve problems, applying your domain knowledge, analytical thinking, and lessons learned to address complex issues/risks and/or challenges
  • Provide input into financial budgeting forecasts and contribute to growth initiatives, including applications for additional resourcing requests
  • Act as a role model by championing our ways of working and being passionate about coaching, mentoring and the development of our people
