Job Description & Summary
At PwC, our people in sustainability focus on integrating environmental, social, economic, and governance considerations into business strategies and operations. They provide guidance and support to organisations by managing sustainability risks, identifying opportunities, and driving positive social and environmental impact.
In climate and energy at PwC, you will focus on providing consulting services related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. You will analyse client needs, develop strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and offer guidance and support to help clients transition to a low-carbon economy.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), Environmental Reviews, and Environmental due diligence/non-assurance E&S assessments for government and private sector clients in Bangladesh.
- Develop environmental and social baselines through literature review and stakeholder consultations, and supervise survey firms for primary data collection on project sites.
- Analyze field data and draft relevant sections of ESIA or review reports.
- Develop mitigation measures considering site-specific E&S risks or impacts.
- Create Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP) to ensure safeguards during project implementation.
- Generate leads from potential government, IDA, or private clients in Bangladesh.
- Contribute to project proposals, including developing approaches, methodologies, brochures, and capability statements.
Mandatory Skill Sets:
- Strong understanding of local and international environmental and social standards and regulations.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS) software for spatial data analysis and mapping.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively and independently for significant periods.
Preferred Skill Sets:
- Experience with IFC Performance Standards, World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework, or ADB’s Safeguard Policy Statement (SPS).
- Certifications in ISO 14001 and 45001.
- Experience in assessing climate risks and impacts, particularly for large infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of climate finance mechanisms, carbon credit assessments, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission inventories in the context of Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and Financial Institutions (FIs).
Years of Experience Required:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in E&S consulting, ESG, and Climate domain.
Education Qualification:
- Post-graduation in Environmental Science and Engineering, Environmental Management, Civil/Electrical Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
