The SQL Database Administrator will design, build, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases for a cloud-based commercial software development project. This role involves creating representations for functions and user interfaces, building data imports, and developing high-level product specifications. Key responsibilities include working with Sr DBA, implementing new databases, reviewing backups, maintaining NoSQL infrastructure, optimizing systems, and supporting ETL processes. The position requires strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to ensure efficient database operations.
Must Have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field, or nearing graduation. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Relational database experience (MS SQL preferred)
- Understanding of database design for data driven applications
- Analytical thinking with good troubleshooting skills
- Skilled in database architecture and optimization techniques
Good to Have
- C#, ASP.NET a plus
- Good at communicating with technical and non-technical business associates
- Highly motivated with a good work ethic

So, what’s the role all about?
A Software Engineer's main purpose is to help design, build and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases for a cloud-based commercial software development project. Software Engineers use tools and methodologies to create representations for functions and user interfaces of desired products. This position may also be responsible for building data imports for customers. Day-to-day duties include developing high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
How will you make an impact?
1. Work with Sr DBA to obtain database specifications and requirements
2. Design, build, and implement databases to support new software development
3. Review and maintain server backups
4. Architect and maintain a large-scale data infrastructure based on NoSQL technologies.
5. Stress test and optimize the system for efficiency in a distributed database environment
6. Responsible for writing the critical framework components and the more complicated sections of the system.
7. Analyze internal processes
8. Maintain and support advanced ETL processes
9. On occasion, work closely with customers to build custom data imports
10. Provide maintenance and support for database servers
11. Be responsive and flexible with ad-hoc requests
12. Develop and foster a team atmosphere that exhibits teamwork within the department and with other departments and clients
13. Other duties as assigned.
