Job Description
As a Database Administrator at TransPerfect, you will join the TechOps team, working with senior developers to design, test, plan, protect, and implement the department's databases. Your role involves managing database performance, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery, and optimizing backup and restoration processes. You will also create monitoring tools, proactively manage infrastructure, handle support tickets, and develop new database objects, functions, and reports using SSRS. This position is crucial for maintaining robust and efficient database operations within a global language services and technology solutions provider.

Must Have:
- Manage locking, process blocking, and performance tuning of databases.
- Create and maintain high availability and disaster-recovery architecture.
- Manage, optimize, test, and verify backup and restoration processes.
- Create and maintain monitoring and metrics tooling and dashboards.
- Manage infrastructure preventatively, mitigating future incidents.
- Handle support tickets and back up peers.
- Develop and deploy new database objects (tables, stored procedures, views).
- Create complex functions, scripts, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Design, develop, and maintain relational database reports using SSRS.
- Advanced understanding of relational database architecture/infrastructure (MSSQL).
- Knowledge of SSMS, SSRS, and support tooling.
- Knowledge of T-SQL, Stored Procedures, and day-to-day DB functions.
- Advanced knowledge of MSSQL optimization, HA/DR support.
- Strong knowledge of systems/software development lifecycles, application integration, relational database design.
- Experience with cloud database storage technologies.
- Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and break down complex problems.
- Ability to understand and implement best-practices.
- Clear communication skills.
- Ability to participate, review, and offer constructive criticism.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with on-premise and with cloud database technologies.
- Fluent in English.
- Based in Bucharest or able to relocate.
- Comfortable commuting to this job's location.
- Legally authorized to work in Romania.

As a Database Administrator, you will work directly with senior developers team to design, test, plan, protect and implement our department’s databases.

Your responsibilities and tasks will include:
- Managing locking, process blocking and performance tuning of our databases
- Creating and maintaining a high availability and disaster-recovery-friendly architecture
- Managing, optimizing, testing and verifying the backup and restoration processes
- Creating and maintaining monitoring and metrics tooling and dashboards, to give both high-level and granular insight into database performance and operation
- Managing our infrastructure in a preventative manner, considering and avoiding potential future issues, mitigating damage from future incidents
- Handling support tickets when necessary, backing up your peers
- Develops and deploys new database objects and changes to existing database objects including tables, stored procedures, views, etc.
- Create complex functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development
- Designs, develops and maintains a multitude of complex relational database reports using SSRS
Job requirements
The minimum we’re looking for (show us what you’ve got if you aren’t a perfect fit):
- Advanced understanding of relational database architecture/infrastructure, specifically MSSQL
- Knowledge of SSMS, SSRS, support tooling
- Knowledge of T-SQL, Stored Procedures, and day-to-day DB functions
- Advanced knowledge of how to optimize MSSQL, support HA/DR, etc
- Strong knowledge of systems and software development lifecycles; application integration techniques; and relational database design
- Experience with Always on High Availability Groups is a plus
- Analyze, troubleshoot and break-down complex problems
- Choose appropriate tasks to work on relative to our current workload
- Understand and implement best-practices balanced with our team standards
- Clearly communicate ideas, thoughts and suggestions to manager and peers
- Participate, review and offer constructive criticism to peers’ changes and code
- Experience with cloud database storage technologies
