Job Description
- MSc/MEng in Electronic Engineering / Physics.
- Knowledge of SKILL, Python or other programming languages.
- Interest and ability to learn new technologies.
- Support customers in their use of EDA tools for custom and mixed signal IC design, focusing on analog layout automation technologies.
- Deliver technical training and methodology services.
- Deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations.
- Drive technical campaigns and product evaluations to resolve customer design challenges.
- Enable customers’ deployment of new Cadence solutions into production design flows, including debugging technical software and layout issues.
- Develop an understanding of customer needs to create solutions.
- Communicate customer requirements and feedback to Cadence product groups and marketing.
- BSc in Electronic Engineering / Physics.
- 3+ years’ experience of analog/mixed-signal IC layout/design or CAD support, ideally within Cadence tooling.
- Experience of physical verification and parasitic extraction.
- Experience of UNIX environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- A team player who is passionate about technology.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and productively with high quality output in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

Job Overview:
The Cadence Application Engineer (AE) role is a great opportunity to employ your strong technical skills to enable semiconductor companies adopting Cadence solutions and associated IC design methodologies.
The Application Engineer will work with some of the most technically demanding IC design & development solutions and leading-edge silicon process technologies. The AE will support Cadence solutions with an emphasis on our leading Custom IC Virtuoso Studio platform.
The successful engineer will work with customers, account teams and product development teams supporting Cadence’s Custom IC and Signoff software products including:
- Virtuoso Schematic Editor
- Virtuoso Layout Suite (XL/EXL/MXL)
- Virtuoso Analog Design Environment
- Virtuoso Studio Platform (Design Framework)
- Pegasus/PVS
- Quantus
Job Responsibilities:
- Supporting our customers in their use of our EDA tools for custom and mixed signal IC design with a focus on analog layout automation technologies.
- Delivering technical training and methodology services in these areas.
- Delivering technical presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations, including development of customized presentations and demos as required.
- Driving technical campaigns and product evaluations to resolve customer design challenges.
- Enabling customers’ deployment of new Cadence solutions into production design flows. This includes debugging technical software and layout issues as needed.
- Developing an understanding of the customer's needs to create solutions that best meet our customer needs.
- Communicating customer requirements and feedback to Cadence product groups and marketing for issue resolution and to improve product features and quality.
Job Qualifications:
- BSc required, MSc/MEng preferred in Electronic Engineering / Physics
- 3+ years’ experience of analog/mixed-signal IC layout/design or CAD support, ideally within Cadence tooling and associated design methodologies
- Experience of physical verification and parasitic extraction
- Experience of UNIX environments
- Preferred knowledge of SKILL, Python or other programming languages
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- A team player who is passionate about technology but also understands business requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and productively with high quality output in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Interest and ability to learn new technologies
- Some travel will be required – mostly within the Nordic counties, but occasionally elsewhere in EMEA
