Job Description

This role at Motorola Solutions involves providing expert technical support and optimization for complex, mission-critical communication systems in California. Responsibilities include troubleshooting software-driven electronics, managing system configurations, performing preventative maintenance, and developing solutions for technical problems. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to design and implement advanced communication systems, ensuring they meet customer expectations. Must Have:
  • Provide expert technical support for specialized systems and product applications.
  • Troubleshoot software-driven electronics and provision communication system infrastructure.
  • Optimize RF and Broadband architecture (legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure).
  • Program, configure, optimize, test, and document complex communication systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance routines with a focus on trend analysis and documentation.
  • Develop solutions for difficult technical problems encountered during system implementation, upgrades, or support issues.
  • Team with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales personnel to design, implement, optimize, and cut over advanced communication systems.
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
  • Engage in continuous training on the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Maintain and administer the FSO learning lab center.
  • Experience with backhaul networks, including Microwave, Fiber, and MPLS routing.
  • Extensive knowledge of RF systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
  • Expert knowledge in standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, packet switching techniques, and wired communication systems (LAN/WAN).
  • Understanding computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems (cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges).
  • Capable of installing server hardware/OS and software infrastructure, and troubleshooting system/application-related issues.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Suite.
  • Must reside in California or the Washington State area to be available for 24/7 rotation of support, 365 days a year.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by customers.
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Self-motivated and self-managed to perform required duties at a distance from direct supervision.
  • Able to solve customer problems quickly during stressful situations.
  • 4+ years experience in Backhaul Networks, Fiber, MPLS, Microwave, Engineering, LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, P25, Radio Communications, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment, IT, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Networking equipment or Military experience.

Required Expertise:

  • Network Technologies: Experience with backhaul networks, including Microwave, Fiber, and MPLS routing.
  • RF Systems: Extensive knowledge of RF systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
  • Wired Communications: Expert knowledge in standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, packet switching techniques, and wired communication systems (LAN/WAN). Candidate Requirements:

  • Location: Must reside in California or the Washington State area to be available for 24/7 rotation of support, 365 days a year.

  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by customers.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
