Job Description

The Sr. Material Handler manages the efficient and safe flow of materials within warehouse and manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with cGMP, ISO, and FDA regulations. This role involves receiving, shipping, storing, and replenishing materials for Manufacturing, utilizing Warehouse Management software for accurate inventory. The position requires high proficiency in lean manufacturing and 6S principles, contributing to an organized work environment. Responsibilities include identifying process improvements, troubleshooting discrepancies, and working autonomously to enhance efficiency while upholding safety and regulatory standards.
Must have:
  • Manage efficient and safe material flow in warehouse and manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, ISO, and FDA regulations.
  • Receive, verify, inspect, store, and organize incoming deliveries.
  • Process Stock Transfer Orders and coordinate shipments to the Distribution Center.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage real-time material replenishment.
  • Document orders, material transactions, and inventory adjustments in Warehouse Management software.
  • Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges and identify process improvements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
  • High School Diploma or GED and valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of 4 years of inventory, warehouse, shipping/receiving, and forklift experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, internal software, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and RF scanners.
  • Ability to perform basic math, data entry, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Good to have:
  • Materials handling experience within the medical device industry, including working with the FDA regarding control of materials.

Description

The Sr. Material Handler plays a critical role in managing the efficient and safe flow of materials within warehouse and manufacturing operations. This position ensures compliance with cGMP, ISO, FDA regulations, company policies, and safety guidelines while overseeing the physical movement, storage, and replenishment of all material types. Responsibilities include receiving, shipping, storing, and supporting Manufacturing through timely replenishment activities. Utilizing Warehouse Management software, this role performs real-time electronic transactions to maintain accurate inventory records. The Sr. Material Handler exemplifies high proficiency in lean manufacturing, 6S principles, and good housekeeping, contributing to a clean, organized, and optimized work environment. With a strong focus on operational excellence, this individual proactively identifies process improvements, troubleshoots material discrepancies, and works autonomously to enhance efficiency while upholding safety, environmental, and regulatory standards

Primary Duties:

1. Receives, verifies, and inspects incoming deliveries to confirm material quality and accuracy.

2. Quantifies, stores, and organizes materials using warehouse equipment from various delivery sources.

3. Processes Stock Transfer Orders and coordinates shipments to the Distribution Center.

4. Monitors inventory levels and suggests replenishment orders as needed.

5. Manages real-time daily replenishment of materials in a "Just in Time" manner to support internal operations.

6. Documents orders, material transactions, stock movements, and inventory adjustments in Warehouse Management software.

7. Handles and maintains material flow within manufacturing areas, ensuring adherence to established guidelines.

8. Labels, logs, and tracks material lot information with a high level of accuracy in inventory systems.

9. Moves and stores materials in designated bins or staging areas, maintaining proper shelving and organization.

10. Operates motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment safely and efficiently.

11. Processes all deliveries and ensures material transactions occur accurately for departmental activities.

12. Troubleshoots and problem-solves operational challenges related to inventory, equipment, and material movement.

13. Identifies and moves non-conforming materials while ensuring compliance with quality standards.

14. Ensures quality, accuracy, and adherence to GMPs in shipping, receiving, and warehouse functions while maintaining workflow efficiency.

15. Exhibits autonomy and initiative, performing tasks with minimal oversight while identifying departmental improvement opportunities.

16. Monitors warehouse space utilization and collaborates on optimization strategies.

17. Assesses safety and environmental risks, ensuring adherence to HSE policies and HMS.

18. Follows all OSHA safety guidelines and internal safety policies to maintain a secure work environment.

19. Maintains a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area while demonstrating strong safety habits.

20. Performs additional duties as assigned by Management to support business needs.

Skills, Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 4 years of inventory, warehouse, shipping and/or receiving, and forklift experience required
  • Materials handling experience within the medical device industry, including working with the FDA regarding control of materials preferred
  • High level of accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency in all job duties
  • Demonstrates an understanding of all warehouse functions
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and internal software
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math and data entry
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and use of RF scanners
  • Able to safely operate Power Industrial Trucks (PIT) including narrow aisle swing reach trucks in all directions
