Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer at Lytx, you will work with industry-leading safety software, managing vast amounts of video and data from over 700,000 vehicles. You will build solutions for tracking driver and fleet safety and efficiency, leveraging Video Telematics, Machine Vision, and AI. Responsibilities include leading design and development of high-performance media processing pipelines, architecting scalable backend services for video ingestion and analytics, collaborating with cross-functional teams, optimizing system performance, and promoting engineering best practices.
Must Have:
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in technical leadership role.
  • 5+ years leading the definition and development of multi-tier, cloud-based web services.
  • Proven experience in a cloud product company.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++, Linux, GCC, and GNU tools.
  • Strong proficiency with GStreamer framework, FFmpeg, video streaming principles, codecs, and protocols (WebRTC, HLS, RTSP).
  • Experience with messaging systems (Kafka), MySQL/RDS/MongoDB, and real-time data processing.
  • Experience in AWS cloud development, Node.js/TypeScript, and containerization (K8s, Docker).
  • Hands-on experience with source code management techniques, preferably Git Flow.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership.
  • Agile software development experience.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll work with industry leading Lytx Safety Software, which manages massive amounts of video and data collected from over 700,000 vehicles worldwide and ensures the best possible outcomes by identifying behaviors and events that impact safety. Be responsible for building solutions that collect, organize, and present information for tracking the safety and efficiency of commercial transportation drivers and fleets. Lead projects, establish engineering best practices, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across Agile teams. Using Video Telematics, Machine Vision, and AI to derive intelligent insights for all devices and vehicles on our network, you’ll help accelerate our software. Doesn’t that sound exciting?

What you'll do:

  • Lead the design and development of high-performance media processing pipelines.
  • Architect and implement scalable backend services for video ingestion and analytics.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and QA to deliver impactful features.
  • Optimize system performance for handling massive volumes of video data.
  • Ensure robust integration with safety software and telematics platforms.
  • Promote engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and documentation.
  • Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and agile ceremonies.

What you need:

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in technical leadership role
  • 5+ years leading the definition and development of multi-tier, cloud-based web services.
  • Proven experience in a cloud product company.

Additional Information:

  • This is a Hybrid position, and you will be expected to work in our Bengaluru office 2-3 times per week
