The Operational Analysis team conducts scientific studies, supports sales, develops concepts and algorithms, and defines requirements. As a System Analysis Engineer (SAE), you will be part of this multidisciplinary team, primarily supporting Thales through simulation of defence systems. Responsibilities include developing simulation frameworks, models, and analysis tools, and understanding naval warfare operations.
Must have:
  • Conduct scientific and technical studies.
  • Support sales activities through operational scenario analysis.
  • Develop concepts and algorithms for new and existing products.
  • Draw up requirements for new product development.
  • Validate performance figures during sea trials.
  • Perform simulation of operational performance of defence systems.
  • Develop custom simulation framework, models, and analysis tools.
  • Understand and portray naval warfare operations.
  • Provide threat and scenario definitions.
  • Generate appropriate operational performance.

We support the Thales organization by

  • Conducting scientific and technical studies.
  • Supporting sales activities through the analysis of operational scenarios and preparing these analyses for customer consumption.
  • Concept development for new and existing products.
  • Algorithm development for new and existing products.
  • Drawing up requirements for new product development.
  • Validation of performance figures during sea trials.

About the job

As a SAE you are part of a multi-disciplined team of other SAE’s. The SAE participates in all the activities of the Operational Analysis team. The primary method of supporting the Thales organization is by simulation of operational performance of contemporary and future defence systems. The team is responsible for developing a custom simulation framework, the creation of the models used within the framework and the tools used for analysis of the output. Models include amongst other things: radars, optronic sensors, command and control systems, defence systems and threats. Each member of the team develop their own specialties over time.

The job involves a lot of interaction with colleagues from within and outside the Operational Analysis team as well as full-on technical work. Enthusiasm and pleasure in the work is essential. Within the team you will be supported to (further) develop the skills and acquire the domain knowledge necessary to understand and portray naval warfare operations, provide threat and scenario definitions and generate appropriate operational performance.

About you

  • A relevant degree in a technical subject, for example: electronic engineering, physics, mathematics, aerospace or related
  • Communication skills and the ability to perform in multidisciplinary teams
  • A high level of enthusiasm
  • Solution focused
  • Able to obtain an in-depth understanding of system engineering designs and to abstract, model and analyze, while having an eye for the overall process
  • Programming skills within a software environment
  • Analytical skills are a must
  • Able to translate customer requirements into technical specifications
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • The ability explain technical details and manage expectations
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and preferably Dutch
  • Dutch national
  • Option for occasional travel abroad
