Job Details

At Cirrus Logic, mixed-signal engineering drives our company. We develop high-performance, low-power signal processing solutions in audio, voice, and haptics, delivering innovative end-user experiences and solving difficult challenges for new generations of mobile and consumer devices. While breaking the innovation barrier, we’ve also built an award-winning company culture thanks to our extraordinary workforce, ongoing efforts to champion and promote diversity, and our workplace principles of equality and fairness. Do you enjoy working alongside the industry's top engineers and solving sophisticated challenges for the world's leading consumer brands? Join our team and help us continue making this an exceptional workplace! We have a great opportunity for a talented senior-level System Emulation Engineer to join our emulation team. We will also consider someone with less industry experience if they have a proven track-record of hands-on work with hardware and can demonstrate an enthusiasm for electronics. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in the development team evaluating our industry-leading mixed-signal ASICs, prototyping on an FPGA, and developing Proof-of-Concept systems. You will become part of an organisation that operates at the forefront of cutting-edge technology. In return, we offer a unique environment where contribution is heavily rewarded! This role is based in either our Newbury or Edinburgh office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the ASIC product development and test process
  • Port ASIC RTL code onto FPGA with minimal changes ready for pre-Si testing
  • Port systems onto FPGAs to test Proof of Concept architectures and IPs
  • Design test benches on FPGAs for testing mixed-signal devices
  • Interpret requirements into test plans to identify architectural improvements and bugs
  • Demonstrate the ability to test and validate different blocks on the FPGA. The eventual goal is to construct an automated regression test for the complete design
  • Contribute to product definition, prototype evaluation, test development & product release to ensure that the ASIC will meet the customers’ requirements
  • Participate in project meetings and reviews

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree (and/or equivalent) and background in Electronics Engineering
  • Familiar with the capabilities of FPGA devices and associated tool flows
  • Experience with hands-on bench testing and debugging of hardware, firmware and software in a system
  • Experience with in-circuit emulators and bus interfaces and analysers
  • Strong diagnostic and analytical skills
  • An innovative, creative, lateral and logical-thinking problem solver
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret results
  • Able to work to tight and variable time scales
  • Strong ability to relay complex information and collaborate with diverse teams using high-level communication skills
  • Experience working in the semiconductor industry is a definite plus
  • Able to interpret and understand schematic diagrams. Some PCB design experience would also be beneficial
  • Experience in Python scripting is helpful
  • Familiarity with DACs/ADCs/DSPs would be useful
This position can be based in either our Newbury office or our Edinburgh office. #LI-PD1 At Cirrus Logic, we believe that diversity drives innovation and we are committed to encouraging an open and collaborative culture where different approaches, ideas and points of view are respected and valued. Our aim is to promote a workplace where everyone can contribute irrespective of race, colour, national origin, religion or belief, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, pregnancy status or disability.
