Job Summary
Valeo is seeking a System Engineer for its Commercial Vehicles team in Prague. This role involves defining system concepts and functional roadmaps for future ADAS systems, supporting RFQs, and developing next-generation safety features for heavy-duty vehicles. The engineer will work on system and function development, requirements engineering, system design, integration, and validation, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and contributing to project deliverables. The ideal candidate is a versatile engineer comfortable with Matlab/Python, HW/SW integration, and analytical problem-solving.
Must Have
- Develop and refine Functions Roadmaps for ADAS systems.
- Contribute to system concepts for Functional Performance KPIs.
- Work on Active Braking (MOIS) and Blind Spot Information System (BSIS).
- Review, analyze, and create system requirements.
- Design, integrate, and validate system blocks (HW/SW).
- Run simulations and integrate hardware/software elements.
- Ensure compliance with Engineering Discipline processes and standards.
- Contribute to P3/P2 projects and RFQ deliverables.
- University Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Matlab and Python.
- Experience with HW/SW integration, testing, or validation.
- Basic understanding of mechanics and vehicle mechanical systems.
- Understanding of system requirements, architectures, or ADAS functions.
Good to Have
- Basic knowledge of C++.
- Familiarity with radar, vision, or perception systems.
- Experience with commercial vehicles or ADAS in automotive.

We are looking for a System Engineer to join our Commercial Vehicles team in our R&D Center in Prague. You will play a key role in defining the system concepts and functional roadmap for future ADAS systems, supporting RFQs, and contributing to the development of the next generation of safety features for heavy-duty vehicles. This role suits a universal engineer who can comfortably switch between Matlab/Python work, exploring system deltas, integrating HW/SW, and supporting validation activities. It is ideal for someone curious and analytical — someone who enjoys transforming unclear requirements into a clear system concept.
YOUR CHALLENGES?
System & Function Development
- Develop and refine Functions Roadmaps for 2026+ RFQs to support future commercial vehicle platforms
- Contribute to system concepts combining radar and vision perception to meet Functional Performance KPIs
- Work on upcoming features like Active Braking (MOIS) and Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) for 2028+ systems
Requirements Engineering
- Review and analyze customer requirements
- Identify missing requirements and create new system requirements to complete the Valeo platform definition
- Prepare Proof of Concepts and support technical feasibility evaluations
System Design, Integration & Validation
- Participate in the design, integration, and validation of system blocks
- Integrate HW and SW while understanding relevant mechanical interfaces and constraints of commercial vehicle platforms
- Load datasets, run simulations, and integrate hardware/software elements into the system
- Travel occasionally to a test track for system tests and data uploads
- Cooperate with SW Developers and Test Engineers for end-to-end system validation
Technical Standards & Reviews
- Ensure compliance with Engineering Discipline processes, standards, and design rules
- Support system design reviews — internal and with suppliers
- Follow standardization and contribute to architecture harmonization
Project Contribution
- Contribute to P3/P2 projects, defining system content and supporting deliverables for RFQs
- Report progress and escalate risks
- Ensure adherence to project economical targets

- University Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Strong proficiency in Matlab (simulation, scripting, data analysis)
- Strong proficiency in Python (data processing, automation, validation scripts)
- Experience with HW/SW integration, system testing, or system validation
- Basic understanding of mechanics, mechanical interfaces, or vehicle mechanical systems
- Understanding of system requirements, architectures, or ADAS functions
- Basic knowledge of C++ is an advantage
- Familiarity with radar, vision, or perception systems
- Experience with commercial vehicles or ADAS in automotive is an advantage
