Job Description

Kavaliro is looking for a Systems Engineer III to analyze customer requirements and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of advanced real-time systems for operator and maintenance training devices. Responsibilities include translating requirements into a traceability matrix, proposing architectural solutions, designing and implementing real-time systems, participating in technical reviews, coordinating with cross-functional teams, supporting system testing, assisting the business development team with RFPs, creating documentation, mentoring junior engineers, and managing government-furnished equipment. The role requires strong knowledge of simulation systems, excellent communication and time management skills, and the ability to work independently while taking direction from senior staff.

Kavaliro is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer III to lead the analysis of customer requirements and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of advanced real-time systems used in operator and maintenance training devices. This role also includes mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across teams to ensure technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Translate customer requirements into a comprehensive traceability matrix, using input from specifications, SOWs, and other key documentation.
Evaluate technical needs and propose architectural solutions grounded in a strong understanding of both hardware and software.
Design and implement real-time systems that support operator and maintenance training functionality.
Participate in technical reviews (SETR) and in-progress updates (IPRs), ensuring that issues raised are documented and resolved appropriately.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project scope, deadlines, and budgets are met.
Support system testing efforts, both on-site with customers and during early development phases.
Work alongside the business development team to produce accurate and professional responses to RFPs, RFIs, and similar requests.
Create documentation that meets Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) standards.
Provide guidance and support to less experienced engineers.
Safely manage government-furnished equipment and sensitive materials.
Maintain a standard work schedule and be open to occasional overtime.
Take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Strong knowledge of simulation systems and the ability to recommend tailored solutions based on customer needs.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong time management and prioritization abilities.
Comfortable taking direction from senior engineers or managers.
Eligible to obtain a security clearance if required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus 5+ years of systems engineering (or related) experience; OR
Bachelor’s in Computer Science with 7+ years in a related field; OR
High school diploma with 11+ years of relevant engineering experience.
A Master’s degree in engineering is preferred.
