Job Summary

Pixar is seeking a motivated intern to join the Systems department for Summer 2026, specifically the SCALE (Server, Cloud, and Linux Engineering) team. This role focuses on developing next-generation operational tools that integrate AI technologies to enhance efficiency. The intern will tackle technical challenges, contributing directly to films, within a collaborative environment that values innovation, continuous learning, and elegant solutions to complex problems in Linux and AI.

Must Have

  • Develop and enhance operational tools that automate Systems tasks, improve monitoring, and optimize infrastructure efficiency.
  • Explore opportunities to integrate AI/ML capabilities into existing tools under mentorship from senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with Systems teams to support seamless filmmaking workflows.
  • Excellent development language skills including Python & Shell.
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks and large language models (LLMs).
  • Comfortable working in a UNIX/Linux environment.
  • Minimally a junior in college working towards a degree or certificate in computer science, engineering, or other area of relevant study.
  • Recent graduates who are within the first year after graduation are eligible to apply.
  • Possess the legal right to work in the United States.
  • Available to work on-site Mon 6.1.26 - Fri 8.21.26.

Good to Have

  • Working knowledge of containerization/cloud technologies (Podman/Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools or configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Splunk).
  • Experience with distributed systems, HPC environments, or render farm technologies.
  • Interest in film, animation, VFX, or digital content creation pipelines.
