JOB OVERVIEW
Plan A Technologies is looking for an experienced Technical Architect & Development Lead. In this position, you’ll ensure a modern, scalable, secure and flexible software that delivers maximum business value while incorporating (and balancing) business needs. You must be willing to hands-on and dive into the details and the execution to get projects completed. As a lead, you will manage the development group, database administrators and DevOps personnel to deliver exceptional technology to support client’s growth. This is a fast-paced job with room for significant career growth.
Please note: you must have at least 10+ years of hands-on software development experience, with deep expertise in C#/.NET in Agile environments and 3+ years in a technical leadership role to be considered for this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Act as the most senior technical leader in the technology group, defining and driving the technical and architectural vision/roadmap in partnership with the CTO, the Director of Technology and Product Owners, ensuring alignment with the company’s business goals.
Execute the technical implementation of the software roadmap through the development team, from discovery through delivery.
Take ownership of project initiation and progress, proactively identifying and resolving blockers without waiting for direction. Closely works with Project Management to ensure that development deliverables support timely completion of software development projects.
Implementing CI/CD principles across the technology group. Responsible for DevOps function.
Manage database-related strategy, including ownership of the database design and DBA responsibilities.
Design and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available backend services to ensure performance and reliability. Ensures that systems are future-proof.
Lead and mentor the development team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Ensure architecture adheres to security best practices (e.g., encryption, authentication, access control). Responsible for systems that adhere to the most current security standards.
Align with industry and legal compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO standards).
Promote best practices in software design, coding, testability, and security across the engineering team. Ensures high-quality code deliverables. Responsible for selection of frameworks and open-source code to accelerate development.
Integrates AI technologies across all areas of the technology stack as well as within the productivity tool set.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) and business functionality are consistently met, addressing technical or process issues proactively.
Advise clients on the design and architecture of robust, maintainable systems and environments.
Responsible for all documentation related to the software development function, ensuring complete and up-to-date documentation of all software & architecture.
Deliver innovative technical solutions to complex business problems and take full accountability for their implementation.
Conduct internal and external technical sessions, acting as a knowledge-sharing hub for peers, partners, and clients.
Set a high bar for initiative and technical quality, leading by example in building exemplary solutions.
EXPERIENCE
10+ years of hands-on software development experience, with deep expertise in C#/.NET in Agile environments.
3+ years in a technical leadership role, demonstrating success in leading project delivery and team support without relying on a dedicated project manager.
Strong understanding of software design principles, development best practices, and SDLC processes—including documentation and testing.
Proven experience designing scalable, maintainable Azure-based applications using Azure Functions and serverless architectures.
Strong expertise in Azure SQL Server—capable of designing and optimizing performant database structures.
Hands-on experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
Experience integrating and utilizing AI tools in enterprise applications.
Strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between business goals and technical execution, ensuring successful delivery from discovery to deployment while balancing technical perfection with business goals.
Solid grounding in computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and object-oriented design.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, agile, results-driven environments, proactively removing blockers and maintaining momentum.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to conduct demos, explain technical concepts clearly, and interface with diverse stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve
technical issues quickly.
Experience working across multiple time zones or with international teams is a plus.
Comfortable managing discovery processes independently, ensuring early alignment and ongoing progress throughout the project lifecycle.
