The System Engineering Manager - Solution will manage system engineering activities in TLC solutions and systems throughout the space project life cycle. This includes concept definition, design specification, manufacturing, integration, and verification phases, up to operations. Responsibilities include ensuring system engineering activity management, planning and coordinating activities, contributing to WBS and OBS, managing risks and opportunities, optimizing technical work, implementing decisions, defining the engineering environment, and guaranteeing coordination of Solution/System/Payload Architects. They will also lead the preparation of design documentation, provide technical interface, support anomaly management, and participate in reviews and test activities. The role focuses on I-GSC E2E system solutions and SIC3 E2E SHF system solutions, especially in anti-jamming systems. They provide careers and not only jobs.
Must have:
  • Master’s Degree in telecommunication or Quantistic communications engineering
  • 3+ years of engineering work experience in System and Payload projects
  • Knowledge of E2E Network System architecture, design and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of International Communication Standards (e.g., 3GPP/NTN)
  • Excellent English communications skills both written and oral
Good to have:
  • Experience in programming languages (Java/C) and payload computer simulation
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity needs and Solutions
  • Experience in equipment procurement activities
  • INCOSE Certification is a plus

Main Role (System Engineering Manager - Solution):

To guarantee system engineering activities management in the frame of TLC solutions and systems, in all phases of a space project life cycle, from concept definition, design specification to manufacturing, integration,  verification phases, up to operations.

Responsibilities

  • To Ensure System Engineering activity management, within constraints provided by the agreed architecture and design policy in order to satisfy customer requirements, and ensures global development consistency
  • To plan and coordinate the whole system engineering activities by coordinating with Design Authorities,  Architects and specialties System Engineers.
  • To contribute to the identification of  WBS, OBS and associated project tasks, tailoring development process and ensuring achievement of the development baselines (functional, allocated and product),
  • To manage Risks & Opportunities of design and development during bid phase,to  guarantee programme commitments, including those flown down to subcontractors and partners.
  • To Optimize technical work against costs, schedule and risks from design to validation and acceptance of the solution.
  • To Implement the decisions and actions coming from the Complexity Profiler analysis.
  • To Define and tailor the engineering environment suitable for the Bid or the Project.
  • To guarantee the proper coordination of Solution/System/Payload Architects, in:
    • capturing Optical/Quantum cryto requirements, assess achievable system performance of  architectures, identify improvement opportunities
    • performing  requirements flow-down, from customer specification down-to equipment requirements
    • generating representative software simulation models for end-to-end telecom systems, for telecom payloads, and for advanced architectures.
  • To lead the preparation of review design documentation
  • To provide primary technical interface of IVVQ Manager , to guarantee the consistency between design and IVVQ activities
  • To support the anomaly management process through anomaly reviews, corrective action development and payload performance analysis
  • To participate in AIV/AIT reviews and satellite test activities
  • Such responsibilities will be mainly focused to the I-GSC E2E system solutions interfacing with the different segment SEM’s and to the SIC3 E2E SHF system solutions in particular with regards to the anti-jamming E2E system.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent, with a specialization which includes telecommunication or Quantistic communications engineering,
  • Great technical, interpersonal, and business oriented skills
  • >3 years related work experience in engineering work,  in System and Payload projects
  • Knowledge of E2E Network System architecture, design and manufacturing:
    • Knowledge of typical network topologies (mesh, star, … terrestrial/satellite gNB, …) as well as User segment features linked to satellite communication protocols,
    • Knowledge of International Communication Standards (e.g. 3GPP/NTN. DTN, DVB-S2/RCS, … ) with particular emphasis on optimized routing algorythms
    • Knowledge of Network Blocking conditions as well as Queue theory to keep under control delays and/or tp size the network,
    • Knowledge of error correction protocolt
    • Optical equipment, repeater and antenna subsystem
    • Optical Link budget
    • System modelling and performance assessment
    • Network architectural design and management with knowledge of main telecom QKD protocols,
  • Experience in programming languages (Java/C) and payload computer simulation (Matlab, Simulink, SATSOFT, STK) and design tools is an asset
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity needs and Solutions is an asset
  • Experience in equipment procurement activities is an asset
  • Excellent English communications skills both written and oral
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and systems
  • Ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines
  • Good analytical, organizational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to solve problems and an interest in innovative technologies
