Job Description

Side is seeking an experienced Test Automation Engineer for a 6-month contract with potential extension. This remote role requires frequent travel to Finland for onboarding and monthly trips. The engineer will design, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks for mobile and web applications, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers. The position focuses on technical excellence, team development, and optimizing QA processes to ensure high-quality product releases at scale.
Must have:
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for mobile and web-based applications.
  • Implement and manage test automation frameworks using industry-standard tools.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and track them to closure.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for rapid and reliable releases.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers in automation techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Conduct training sessions on effective test automation strategies.
  • Provide guidance on debugging, troubleshooting, and optimizing test scripts.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the QA team.
  • Define, document, and enhance QA processes for efficiency and quality.
  • Establish best practices for automation coverage, reporting, and maintenance.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and propose solutions to improve speed and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align QA workflows with overall product development goals.
  • Proven experience as a Test Automation Engineer or similar role in the gaming or software industry.
  • Proficiency in automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, or equivalent.
  • Strong programming skills in languages like Java, Python, or C#.
  • Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and training QA professionals.
  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies and industry best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer with a proven track record in both hands-on automation testing and mentoring team. This is a 6-month contract with the potential for extension. The role will involve frequent travel to Finland, including an initial two-week onboarding visit followed by monthly trips for the next five months - all expenses covered. You will combine deep technical expertise with the ability to mentor and guide QA professionals, ensuring best practices are implemented across the team. This position will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated testing frameworks, while also shaping processes that drive high-quality product releases. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable building automation solutions, training team members, and optimizing workflows to deliver exceptional results at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Excellence

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for mobile and web-based applications.
  • Implement and manage test automation frameworks using industry-standard tools.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
