AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented, and motivated Mid-Level Transportation Engineer for immediate employment in the Murray, Utah office. This role involves engaging with the local team for the design of interchanges, highways, and urban corridors, including 3D modeling. The engineer will perform specific and moderate portions of broader project assignments, gather and correlate basic engineering data, and work on detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and designs. Responsibilities also include proposing solutions to new problems, directing internal quality processes, providing mentorship, and independently completing primary design elements within budget and schedule. Must Have

  • Engage with local team for design of interchanges, highways, and urban corridors.
  • Responsible for 3D Modeling.
  • Perform specific and moderate portions of a broader project assignment.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures.
  • Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and designs.
  • Propose approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures.
  • Follow and direct internal quality process and identify discrepancies in results.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship for entry level engineers.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently perform the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements.
  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Good to Have

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Utah or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft office, AutoCAD Civil3D and MicroStation.
  • Strong familiarity with InRoads / Open Roads.
  • Related experience in traffic signal design, traffic control, or maintenance of traffic.
  • Prior experience working with the Utah Department of Transportation.

  • Engages with local team for design of interchanges, highways, and urban corridors.
  • Responsible for 3D Modeling.
  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader project assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple designs and tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Follows and directs internal quality process and identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship for entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering design projects.
  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Utah or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire if current PE is out of state
  • Computer skills using Microsoft office, AutoCAD Civil3D and MicroStation preferred. Strong familiarity with InRoads / Open Roads a plus
  • Individuals with related experience in traffic signal design, traffic control, or maintenance of traffic will also be considered.
  • Prior experience working with the Utah Department of Transportation is a plus
