Job Description

You will report to our VP in charge of Freight Components Product Line and focus on project management, quality, and operations. Your typical day will involve leading product line quality, managing and training the project team network, preparing customer quality visits and audits, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring customer issues are managed effectively. You will also lead operations related to industrial and sourcing footprint, including technology transfer and supplier resourcing. Additionally, you will provide project management leadership by driving cross-functional planning and execution, monitoring milestones, managing risks, and acting as a key interface between teams.
Good To Have:
  • A Master's degree is preferred
  • Other European languages appreciated
Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or business
  • 10+ years of proven experience in quality, operations and project management in railway business, ideally in Freight
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good judgment for complex business decisions and strategic planning
  • Excellent ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and international team environment
  • Ability to get-things-done and challenge the status-quo
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong strategic thinking and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Fluent English mandatory

We hire a Director – Project management, Quality and Operations (m./f.)

How will you make a difference?

You will be report to our VP in charge of Freight Components Product Line and focus on project management, on quality and on operations.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or business. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in quality, operations and project management in railway business ideally in Freight.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and good judgment for complex business decisions and strategic planning.
  • Excellent ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and international team environment.
  • Ability to get-things-done and challenge the status-quo. Entrepreneurial spirit.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Product Line Quality Leader

Manage and train the Project team network of the Product Line.

Lead and prepare Customer Quality Visits, Audits and meetings (FAI, Project audit, etc. ) with involved PQE’s and Site Quality Manager.

Lead Product Quality continuous improvement through regular audit, Critical Characteristic Management Process.

Lead New Product Development Quality Gate.

Ensure that the Customer issues are managed according to Wabtec rules (5W2H, QRQC, 8D or PDCA_FTA, LLC) , with the right reactivity and the right level of communication.

Lead Product Line QRQC with sites involved.

Set target and Achieve Product Line performance targets for Quality.

Establish the quality budget for the Product Line.

  • Operations - Industrial and Sourcing Footprint

Transfer of technology / Make or Buy : lead activity from idea generation to business case to actual transfer until successful FAI.

Coordinate with site and regions quality teams that supplier resourcing activities are driving to an overall quality improvement.

  • Project Management Leadership

Drive cross-functional project planning and execution, ensuring alignment with quality objectives and delivery timelines.

Monitor project milestones and proactively manage risks and resources to ensure successful outcomes.

Act as a key interface between engineering, operations, and quality teams to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
